They Call this Black?

It confuses me too. Looking at it from some angles it looks black, but from others it looks to be a gunmetal blue. Something to do with the reflective pattern they put on it I assume - Kind of like the back of the Nexus 4.

Regardless, I hate white so it still looks decent to me whatever you call it.
 
It is like a very dark blue with the carbon fibre look. If you compared the 'black' S4 to the blue S3, you can clearly see that the S4 is way blacker than the S3. Anyway, white is really very common and overrated in my opinion.

IMO the blue s3 has a purple-ish tint to it, or that's how it looks to me :p
 
The s3 didn't originally shipped with white or blue because apple has a patent on black rectangles.

Patent wars probably has something to do with black not quite being black

Don't understand these patent wars going on here. It is just a phone, get over it.
 
Mine is black also, i think because of the pattern in the colored area it may appear not completely black, but it's just an illusion i think

It has the carbon fibre look pattern. Actually honestly speaking, if you look at the back of the phone, you can see that it is bluish.
