things you dislike about the Desire

Home button a bit but volume mostly

I had the issue with the volume button but sent it back to HTC and they fixed it as I was under the 2 year warranty.

Some amazing, helpful, genius IT guy up t'north told me about it :)

Why not do that before you upgrade?

Dont want them to change the board... Just means I find it hard to boot into recovery.

Perhaps that's the one thing that ROM Manager might be useful for then. Doesn't it have a reboot into recovery function ;-)

Only kidding. Seriously though is there no other app that will boot your phone into recovery?

There are apps that can do this, e.g. quickboot, but I don't think they necessarily perform a clean shutdown.

I'm also absolutely certain that Dan knows this :)

1. Probably the fact I spend more time thinking about tweaking/ updating and looking at alternative roms than I do actually using it.

2. Volume rocker has developed a crack in the middle - can make it hard to change volume.

3. Battery. Hate having to check, so have to carry a back up.

I keep it in a flip case, which keeps most of it clean and tidy. It has picked up some knocks and scratches round the edges. Doesn't look too bad and adds some character. Kind of like the idea of the contrast between an older battered outside, sparkly new custom rom inside. Not brave enough to ditch the case yet though!

I have a flip case, which I use when I want extra protection, but there's just enough metal in the construction to degrade GPS reception. Hence it mostly lives in a case-mate these days, and I try extra hard not to drop it :)

Just about what you've been saying above. Biggest ones are space, camera and loud speaker volume.

And, of course, the build quality: I've had to change mainboards twice due to overheating. Each time meant 3 weeks without my darling phone - agony!

I'm sure he does. It was just a tongue in cheek reference to the do not use ROM manager thread!

I just boot into fastboot first. It's just hard to identify the exact position and pressure needed from my thumb to get vol down to be reconised at boot/reboot so use back instead.

Think 4ext app has a reboot into recovery option but don't really need it

After root, S-off and all that new ROM jazz my only few gripes are, as said the loudspeaker quality and another one for me is, if I use my Desire without the case for longer times, the backpanel coating starts to get sweaty.

But nah, not really things I'd buy a new phone for. Overall, I have been pleasantly surprised by this phones awesomeness. ;)
