Ok here are the rules. Tell me what you love about your thunderbolt and why you switched. Also if you are planning on returning the phone you are disqualified. I will leave this open till I get the cases from ebay and figure out if it will be one or 2 cases given away. I would love for more people to thank the thread lol but not a requirement.

I switched to a thunderbolt from a AT&T iphone 3gs (terminated contract) for 2 major reasons:
1) I pretty much hate steve jobs and the apple fan boys but at the time I got the iphone it was the superior smart phone so I put my differences aside, android seems to be looking better and better and not locked down, so I made the switch, that and my friend works for verizon corp doing the LTE network and had a prototype thunderbolt for about 4 months and kept waving it in my face.
2) I work in New York City and since I had AT&T 75% of my iphone calls either got dropped or just went straight to voice mail. Oh yea and no 3g data signal to browse the web half the time.

I switched after being an ATT customer for many years specifically for the Thunderbolt for the following reasons:
1) I was not pleased with ATT's customer service. They did not try and see things from the customer's point of view. And the towers were being converted over, so I had less and less coverage in my neighborhood. So I was ready to leave ATT.
2) I had a feature phone and wanted to get a smart one, but didn't see anything I really liked. I wanted a FFC and simultaneous V/D. I liked the openness of the Android system, although people told me how easy the iPhone was to use.
3) I decided if I was going to increase my monthly phone bill with the mandatory $30/mo data package, I wanted to buy a phone that would last me for 2 years. I am normally not an early adopter b/c I'd rather someone else work out all the kinks. I didn't have to have the latest model, but I also did not want to go 3G when it was clear that 4G (the true 4G, mind you!) would be a common denominator in the next 12 months. So I wanted to invest in a future technology rather than have to buy another phone (if I did the 3G to 4G conversion) in less than a year.
When the Thunderbolt was announced, I was immediately interested. I also saw Samsung had introduced a phone at CES (without a name, but it said it had 4G LTE) that might be a contender. Somehow, I stumbled onto this phandroid site and got caught up in the excitement and frustration of the pre-order crowd at BB. I, too, plunked down my BB pre-order deposit and waited and waited. I also called BB customer relations about the pricing based on the comments from this forum. And I've come to depend on this forum for the latest news, gripes, and tips.
Now I'm the proud owner of a TB. There's still a lot for me to learn since I never had a smartphone, but I really like it so far. The forum will continue to be a great source of help and support for me. Thanks for asking!

I recently came from the Razr, yes the Motorola Razr, waiting for this bad boy to come out. I waited in front of best buy on Feb 14th, just to get turned down! Couldn't sleep some nights anticipating the release!
I even had a nightmare one night that I purchased the phone, brought it home, still in the box, and when i opened it, it was the razr! Everyone in my dream was trying to convince me it was the new Thunderbolt haha, crazy night.
But all that aside, I now have it, Its amazing, I'm browsing the web in my bed, watching stupid youtube videos with friends on our lunch time in small pubs, and enjoying it every bit!

I switched to the Thunderbolt because I wanted win a case from a generous T-bolt owner. I really like how fast it is compared to the Droid 2 3G. I also like that it was able to be rooted and I love the camera along with the curb feeling kickstand.
I came from the dreaded Droid 2 which was having more problems than i'm used to having with a cell phone!!!!

I switched from an iphone for the ability to customize my phone however I want and not be restricted or locked down on IOS. The LTE speeds are super fast and the thunderbolt feels great when in hand. Everyone keeps asking me what phone that is and are amazed at how fast and smooth it is when I let them play with it. I love how the dev community is already in full force for this phone and that always makes for sweet custom roms and not being stuck at the carriers mercy for updates. This case would look awesome with my phone=)
I switched because I had an Eris. The End.
No, seriously. The Eris was awesome at first, but it aged very poorly and the performance wen't down at a staggering rate towards the end, so it was time for a change. The Thunderbolt has been amazing so far and I'm waiting for CM7 so I can ROM this thing into the stratosphere.

I switched because im addicted to android and always like to to have the latest and greatest. My journey has been Eris, X , Incredible and now Thunderbolt. I much prefer HTC to Moto and Samsung phones.

I'm gonna be honest, I switched because I had an upgrade available and wanted the baddest newest phone Verizon had. I watched as friends paraded around their Droid X's and Droid 2's while I was stuck with an Ally that I got in a buy 1 get 1 free deal. Even when I bought my Droid off a buddy and overclocked, rommed, etc., it still wasn't as fast or neat as the newer phones. When my upgrade became available, I told myself I was gonna buy the next great device that came out, which was the Thunderbolt! ( Spare me apple I didn't want your locked down turd!)

I switched to the tb from a crappy flip phone. I really wanted some Android goodness. I love the blazing 4G and all the awesome features of sense. Oh and the kickstand.

I got my thunderbolt because when I get around to rooting it it will be the best phone in town. Front facing camera is awesome and the 32 gb SD holds all my music!
Since I have a 1 yr. contract I won't be at a total loss when I decide to change.
I'm sound as a pound.
