Root Think I Finally Bricked It...

I have the battery hooked up to my makeshift usb charger, its probably not doing anything, but i guess its worth a shot. The other verizon store in town is right next to my work and Ill probably drop in on my way to see if theyll charge it for me

it may have reviewed my anger history with technology and figured it might want to work correctly or it will be sent flying and break into several pieces while being urinated on, while gaged.... weird thoughts.

What do you mean by "makeshift USB charger"? Are you talking about those instructions earlier in the thread?

Because that doesn't charge the battery. It just makes the phone think the battery is full, when in fact it is being powered directly by the USB cable.

Yeah I was a little confused. so i hook the wires up to the phone itself?

Ok, using the red and black wires from a usb cable allowed be to get it into the bootloader and it said the battery status was ok and it was ok to program. So now I just need to attempt to sbf it.

In that particular scenario, the easiest thing to do is actually squish the wires between the battery and the contacts on the phone; it just provides a solid contact so you don't have to balance the phone or anything. So, yes, they're basically hooked up to the phone itself. All you're doing is providing enough current that the phone will stay on and think it's being powered by the battery - in fact, it's being powered directly by the USB port.

There ya' go!

While I know that this isnt going to work for THIS time, I would suggest picking up a stand alone charger for your batteries and or atleast one extra battery. You can find them on the cheap from ebay and they work.

I hear ya. I have a bit of a temper when it comes to electronics that won't cooperate with me either. I tend to chuck things across the room.....lol

She lives. Im actually quite surprised the usb method worked. I was really nervous they would fall out in middle of the sbf... but no! worked like a charm. Thanks to everyone for all the help. I can relax now!

i chucked my xbox 360 controller and broke my 42" flat screen led hdtv because of call of duty 4 and some sniper that had aimbot. i should have left the game, but i was just too pissed to think

That reminds me of a nerdrage event that was recorded when I used to play WoW...lol

I USED to be that bad. But over the years, I guess I'm just gettin old, I have learned to calm it down quite a bit. So now I just break little things I know I can afford to replace......:D

Glad to hear you have it sorted and the Frankenstein battery cable bit worked for you which I am admittedly too damn scared to try. :D

Also...if you don't want to hack up a USB cable...team black hat sells custom "Motorola factory cables" for like $50...pretty steep IMO...but its an option...they will power in the phone and allow you to flash it even without a battery in the phone at all...

Its one of the more gutsy things ive dont involving my phone. It was probably pretty stupid considering I could have messed it up bad. It was difficult keeping the postive and negative wires away from eachother. But when I found out it was working I was amazed. Saved myself alot of trouble and lost one apple usb chord. Wont be scared to try again though

in this same predicament.
when i get to the recovery menu, i just get the droid with the exclamation point.
none of the buttons are responsive.

Have you tried pressing the volume up/down simultaneously? Press in the middle of the buttons. Then use them individually to navigate and power to select.
