Help Thinking of dumping the Evo.

Hello. First off, I want to say I love my Evo (for the most part). My biggest problem with it however is the performance of Pandora radio. I do alot of driving, and I have been a Pandora subscriber for a few years now. I used to listen all the time with my HTC Hero and had next to no problems with it. I've since upgraded to the Evo. I can not get Pandora to consistantly play songs without skipping. Sometimes its so bad that it wont finish 10 songs in a row without skipping to the next one. Other times, Pandora wont even load at all. I've read the long thread about Pandora on the EVO and know that I'm not alone on this. I've also had significant experience listening to Pandora on a different phone / network (MyTouch 3G on T-mobile), and there seems to be significantly less problems with skipping and failure to load etc.

What I can't pinpoint is the ultimate root of the problem. Is it Sprint's network? (I have my doubts because Pandora on the Hero was far less problematic). Is it the EVO? I don't know, but I'm leaning in that direction. I hope not because I really do like this phone alot.

This is deal breaker for me. I am seriously considering swapping phones / network if I can't listen consistantly to Pandora. Please help. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Though it doesn't look like it's a server side problem, it can be possible. If you have your old phone, try activating it with your account and see if there's a difference. If there is a difference in performance it's definitely your phone. If there's no difference, then it could be the network or pandora radio itself. Try eliminating it one by one. If it is the phone, try uninstalling then reinstalling Pandora, and if that doesn't work, then you might need to look for a new phone. I have pandora on mine but I don't seem to get the same problems others are having. It could be because of location, meaning that at your location there's a lot more people listening to Pandora on the same network. As for me, I'm only thankful that I don't have a problem with mine.

stagefright and proxies are the issue

I now stream pandora for hours daily....no skips..and cd quality sound

stock/unrooted phones will still have low quality sound due to stagefright.
