Settings>Language & Keyboard, turn 'Android Keyboard' on. You can tap to bring up the keyboard settings.
Then go to say the browser, and put a cursor in the search box so the keyboard comes up. You'll see a small white keyboard in the status bar, expand notifications and tap 'Choose Input Method' select Android Keyboard.
