This forum a lot less active?

ZepTepi

Android Enthusiast
Is it me or is this forum a lot less active than it used to be? I remember getting a lot more view and responses then I get now. If so, why is that? This has always been my go to place for all things android.

The site is still quite relevant and as you know, it contains a wealth of information. Forums as a whole do not enjoy the popularity that they once had. There are other options for information on the net. Some would rather take a gamble on a blog vs a consensus of experienced members that a forum environment affords. That is strictly my opinion. I definitely do not think that our decrease in activity is due to a lack of active members who enjoy sharing their knowledge and helping out a fellow Android enthusiast. If not for the friendly helpful members, there would have never been an Android Forums.

I'm moving this thread to the off topic area. I hope that others will add their thoughts to this thread.

Well I'm still a fan of this forum and what you said makes sense to me. Thanks for the opinion.

All Android problems have been solved - and Google have simplified and perfected their system on all devices.

I should have taken that early retirement plan.

I do think there are less problems to solve and the new to Android are limited. Rooting is not the adventure it once was. Back in the day, we all cringed post Christmas with the rash of new members new to Androids or new to cellphones in general. Even being the dummy I was/am there was always people I could assist.

Everyone else has already addressed it, so I don't have a lot to add. My thoughts are that back in its heyday, when we were so busy we couldn't keep up!, Android was still quite new and people just naturally gravitated here. It was no secret that AF was *the* place to go for all things Android, from rooting to which case was the best, we had it all. Now Android is just a ubiquitous part of the landscape, and it's gotten so easy to use that your Average Joe simply doesn't need help 99% of the time. There's no longer a rabid rooting need, as Android itself now provides many of the features we used to get only by rooting.

But we're still here! Open to one and all. :)

I am still here, just seeking out different information only based on here, and never looking anything up though, though gotta say is the hot coffee topic, still able to get a new boot up screen then the regular style, I did mentioned it a bit ago on here... Hmmm...

I check in to AF daily.
Personally, haven't had a problem that I needed to address in a while now, but will respond if I have something that I feel is revelent.
I'm fairly certain that when I finally upgrade my phone I'll be involving myself on the new thread.
It's so much fun being part of the crowd breaking in a new device. Buying a new flagship yearly is not for the retired set so I'm sitting out this year.

Maybe because some peeps are now spending much more of their online time on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Discord, Twitch, or some other socially networked triviality?

Maybe peeps(millennials?) these days are less interested in phones and tablets, and more interested in non-fungible tokens, or vinyl records("vinyls" <smh>), or something?

IMO, smartphones have all become relatively stable and similar, even android as to iOS.

In the old days, Android and rooting was like the Wild West. Improvements were not incremental as they are now. Nowadays, you can go two years without seeing any significant breakthroughs in tech improvement. It's more like 4 years now. So, smartphones are are and established technology. They flood the market. They are not novel and new and people move on to other novel and new things. That's how it is.

Today's new tech, btw, is molecular transport.

If that tech is going to be analogous to Android progress, then we will probably start like this...

I turn my back off here for a spell, and get way too many notifications, see this is how the fourm is active, when you write on here and people respond.. Way too many trolls inhere.

There are always iPhone aficionados* who jump over to see what the Android fuss is all about... especially since we had wireless charging for 6 years before Apple; and hot spot, and widgets, and... folding phones. Many people get an Android as their first smartphone because they're cheaper than iPhones: and they need help understanding and mastering their devices. I routinely promote AF on social media to let people know we exist here... and it's a welcoming place for everyone, from first-day newbies to developers.
