So I'm about 6 hours away from getting smacked with Irene, and I am expecting a power outage for awhile...I've chraged the laptop and phone up to 100% and when the power goes out, ill be charged up. My question goes along with this because so many people on here are using different kernels and stuff, nd seem to be getting excellent battery life. I am still getting poor battery life. I understand Im using a Sense ROM and that I shouldn't expect incredible battery life but what can I do to try nd make it slightly improved...should I switch to a different kernel? Underclock? I'm looking for some tips. Thanks guys

prolly the biggest thing you can do is not run the radio. put it in airplane mode, just turn it off now and then to see if youve any new texts or emails.

Thanks scotty, I'm also looking for some general tips and stuff for my everyday use of my TB. I'm running uberbamf pr3 and its definitely the best ROM I've run to date, and its still a preview :) is there a better kernel on battery? I'm running 245mhz min, and 1.4ghz max. Interactive governor...I need to get more than 7-8 hours with this bad boy

not much to offer there... ive always had crappy battery life on sense roms.

i get the best battery life out of AOSP,running leankernel. i dont do much kernel customiztion,i dont bother voltages and i dont usually even OC.

other than that, just try and minimize syncs and things you have running in the background.

I've been doing just that. I have another question I'm not sure if you know the answer to...my two email accounts that aren't my gmail (school and work) aren't showing up under my accounts and sync screens...any idea why that is?

I'm getting ready for the same so I just wanted to add if the storm knocks out VZW's network keeping your phone in airplane mode like Scotty said is important. You don't want the radio constantly searching for a signal that it can't find. That will kill your battery faster than anything. Make sure to download some new tunes or movies and make sure to be safe

You also Worm, thanks man. I've got netflix all ready to go :) and ill be using airplane mode tomorrow if necessary. I'm leaving everything on the charger until the powers out.

Good luck you guys! I've been through two nasty ones here Houston - Rita in 2005 and Ike in 2008. Both times power was out for 4+ days and it was a mess cleaning up. On the plus side, Verizon had the best service both during and after the storms so they know a thing or two about keeping their network up and running!

Take care and just remember, this too shall pass and you'll make it!
