this isn't another iphone bash, it's a people bash

i think so many people want the iphone because they dont know about other options. my girlfriend and her family are all on at&t and they all have the iphone, but none of them have apps, so they are paying a ton for a touch screen phone.... WTF

i work for Verizon and almost everyday someone will ask me "when will Verizon get the iPhone"

half the time when i show them an Android or even the Palms they dont care about the iPhone

i always ask "why do you want the iPhone" and most of the time they can't give me a real answer it's something like "i want a touch screen" or "i want the internet on my phone"

why do people want the iPhone, in my opion, advertising. People want what they see and everybody has seen an iPhone comercial. i doubt there will ever be a google comercial for Android, the advertising will be up to the manufacters or carrier, example the moto droid

the droid sold quickly, the day it came out people came in asking for it without even know what it was. the nexus hasn't sold, why? advertising.

just saying people should do more research before they buy a phone

It's like lemmings going with everyone without knowing why. In defense of the minority of the iPhone users, they know why they bought iPhones. Too bad the majority of that minority will be transferring to the Android platform once they're able. :)

Everyone wants one and nobody knows why but you better get one too and they won't leave alone until you do and every other phone is wrong. I've been saying it for years now: The iPhone is the Christianity of the mobile phone world.

Don't turn this into a religious debate. There is nothing wrong with christianity.

I didn't say there was. Just like there's nothing wrong with an iPhone just the people who know nothing about it that feel the need to convert everyone which is annoying to everyone else. No need to get all defensive.

its like "oh i need a new computer" "lets fire up the Dell website"

bugs the crap out of me too!!

now its like "i need a new laptop" "lets pay more for security and get more fun with a Mac Book Pro"

seriously? to me people default to what other people have. phones=most popular=iphone. computers=most popular=dell. sorry if it wasnt 100% accurate but i thought i got the gist... guess not

The OP is pointing out that Apple products form cults. I don't get people going out of their way on a daily basis to tell me how much better their Dell is than a Gateway even though they can't tell me why the way Apple users do. I think that's the point of this thread.

Yes everyone has the iphone. Its quite annoying because when i go out i hear the same damn text message tone over and over again because people dont change it. Apple has people brain washed because people dont want to think for themselves, they just want something pretty and shinny. dont get me wrong, apple makes nice laptops, but i dont think they are worth the price.

geeze, guess i'll stick to other threads.

sorry. Dell Inc. is the world’s third-largest personal-computer maker.

i was just trying to portray that Susan Household doesnt know much else than what she see's during her soaps. iPhone and and on QVC Dell computers...

just trying to converse here

Bramsy, i get what you are saying. People just buy what they see in their face all the time. They dont feel like going out and researching and seeing what else is out there. Its called laziness.

I talked to one of my friends the other day who has an iPhone. I asked him why he got it. He said, "I just want a phone that calls." If that were the case, why couldn't he just got any other basic flip phone?

It's definitely the name that gets people going for iPhone. But lately, Android has been rising in the market with little advertising compared to Apple...

i have a 04 Toyota Scion Xb right now to be honest. i shopped around and i got what i paid for. a tin box, seats 4 VERY comfortably and gets decent gas mileage. i would love to buy american, but didnt have the money at the time.

I never really like the box on wheels look. Although the tc is kinda nice.

Also when I rode in an xb it had a very bumpy ride.

This reminds me o0f something I read today. In a mobile phone magazine here in the UK. They were comparing the iPhone 3GS, Nexus One, and the HTC Legend, on things such as speed, camera, beauty, etc.

What really got me was they rated each either first, second or third on each category (about 8 overall). The iPhone came 1st in one, number of apps, 2nd in a few, but 3rd in the majority. So I read to the bottom, where it had the overall ranking, to my amazement, this is what I saw:

1: iPhone
2: HTC Legend
3: Nexus One

Really... After you just rated the other two phones better in the majority of sub-categories?? Was a Picard moment for sure.
