This phone sucks... Gettin' iPwn.

Bear with me guys, the GPS does take a little bit longer to lock on, which completely kills my love for the phone... At least Apple stands behind their products, somewhat. :D

Never mind the:
- 4.0" Super AMOLED
- 16Gb internal SDHC
- Swype
- More power efficient RAM(than any other phone, really)
- The Hummingbird which can easily be clocked up to 1.2 Ghz(and maybe 1.6 Ghz in the future)
- The freedom of Android
- Very cheap accessories($5 OEM batteries and $10 cases)
- The PowerVR 540 which is 3x faster than the rest of the competition(Droid X/2, and iPhone 4). 36% graphics power of the ps3.
- Built in B/G/N antenna
- No significant death grip
- Good battery life for a smart phone
- Ability to add another 32 Gb to the phone via Micro SDHC
- No stats that show 33% dropped calls is normal.

Those really are the only benefits of the Craptivate... Now onto the long list of Cons:
- GPS is a little quirky(Not really for me though)
- Steve Jobs did NOT bless the cappy.

$10 cases? And here I bought a case for $3.75... ;)

But at least in the iPhone's defense, they can get cheap eBay cases too.

I was about to come in here and say "Good I won't miss you."

But then it was just another fellow phone lover who has been Captivated.

I apologize good sir.

That's a pretty long list.... not the cons. LOL. Love my captivate. Even if the GPS takes so long to lock on that I can feel my facial hair grow. Lol

Good list. lol. I don't know why people are having problems. My gps isn't an instant lock on but has worked FLAWLESSLY when driving and being outside.

This phone is awesome! Iphone friends are captivated by this phone. :)

Oh, my roommates(2 iPhones) paid about $40 bucks each for their cases. My bad.

I take it you like your captivate lol

My post could be construed that way... I don't see it though.

The greater majority of the threads started on this forum are about people bitching, it's driving me crazy.

It's all I could really come up with... Feel free to add more, if you'd like.:D

Same, as long as I am near a window or outside it is ready before I am in my car and buckled. My roommate saw this thread and he mentioned his iPhone 4 takes forever to lock on with the GPS. We're in Lubbock, if that makes any difference.

Haha! Did a double take myself :D

I'm not a captivate owner but can appreciate the entire Galaxy S lineup as a nice addition to the available Android choices.

I'm sure the GPS issues will get sorted out with software updates (there ALWAYS seems to be minor bugs when devices are first launched).

I would correct and say $5 ebay batteries - I don't think anyone has yet to say they are Samsung branded with same model number. I guess they could be OEM from somebody, but I am not sure they are Samsung OEM.

More Cons:
No Apple logo
Actually a good value
The processor for the phone was made by Samsung, the same company who made the phone
No front facing camera so I can be a douche and show off my phone's video calling which is completely useless

If the iPhone had this GPS problem, here's how Apple would have handled it:

1) Ignore it for a while.

2) Claim users are driving too fast for GPS to work.

3) Hold a press conference where they show other phones losing signal when driving through a tunnel.

4) Hand out tin foil mini sattelites to attach to your phone for better reception.

The majority of those "pros" are mainly subjective
but i do agree with the majority of them

lol interesting thread
i was expecting to see a bunch of men fighting over a phone

If iphone had the gps problem android forums would be full of hundreds of posts full of schadenfreude filled essays about how much the phone sucks and how dumb youd have to be to buy a phone with a major feature completely broken.

Both of my roommates iPhones take longer to get a lock when using Google Maps and Navigate...

I get a 3m spread too, which is more than adequate.

I had been thinking that the iPwn is a more polished and functional device.

However, now that my GPS+Navigator appears to be working, I have Launcher pro, Beautiful Widgets, custom wallpapers, Music and custom ringtones installed and recognized, and the supa-coo' "3" music app, I am starting to feel more positive about the Captivate pulling ahead.

Pretty swanky, and we don't even have the froyo speedup, yet.
