Those with 1 Year Contracts: Upgrade plans?

I don't think any tablets have a cell antenna integrated. I'm not talking about holding a tablet up to my ear to speak, just have the capability to be used as a cell phone. Now you can use a bluetooth or plug into the earphone jack with the proper equipment. Or have a small detachable handset integrated into the back of the tablet.

Given that the vast majority of apps aren't optimized for dual core, I wouldn't be especially concerned about it at this stage of development. Perhaps in 2012 or later, but for now it's not a big deal.

That's why I'm happy that I'm not up for a new phone until June 2012.

why not just carry a laptop around then. this defeats the point of a smart-PHONE. not a smart -computer

I agree...I wouldn't want to have to carry my 7" phone with me everywhere in a bag, especially in the summer when I'd rather not carry anything more than what will fit in my pockets. But if you want to carry around a laptop bag EVERYWHERE, then go for it, if this type of device is ever released.

Does anyone know if its possible for one phone (on a family plan) to get a one year contract... and the other phones to stay on a 2 year?

Yes, you can do this. This is how I bought my Incredible on a 1-year contract (as an alternate upgrade on another line). For those asking about price, I think it was $270 vs $200 on a 2 year. I was a firm believer in 1 year contracts before, and more so now since VZW is eliminating the early upgrade on two year contracts.

As for the topic of this thread, I will probably get a TB. 4G hotspot will be great when I travel for work...

I don't have a 2 year, I just buy phones whenever I see a good deal and it's something I want, but I agree with rhippler: until I see my 'want list' in a (HTC?) phone, I see no reason to upgrade. I will root my Inc soon and be happy with that for quite a while, I'm sure. Besides, the Myrtle Beach area is, thus far, on no 4g list and I won't upgrade until then.
