Three annoyances that I really need help to fix

A.Nonymous

Extreme Android User
I consider myself an Android vet and really love my various devices. I've got three minor annoyances that have been bugging me for some time and I'd really like to get them fixed.

1. Google is convinced I have purchased apps that I haven't. I bought apps from Amazon. Amazon is not updating those apps. Google is. So I want to buy the app from Google's Market. Problem is that Google has automatically linked the Amazon app to my Google account and is convinced I have purchased it. So if I try to click to download it, it tells me the download is declined because I haven't purchased the app. If I go to the market web site it tells me I can't buy the app because I've already bought it. Aaahhh!!! How can I tell Google that I have no bought this app so I can give them money?

2. Is there an app I can use to control the priority of apps that respond to a BT headset? I'm having a problem where Poweramp almost always wants to be the one who responds even though I haven't set it that way in the settings. I've got PowerAmp, MOG, Amazon MP3 and Doggcatcher and depending on the time of day and the alignment of the planets, all of them might respond to a keypress. Usually, it's PowerAmp, but not always. I hit play/pause the other day and PowerAmp started. Hit it again (intending to pause playback) and Doggcatcher started. The work around is relatively easy. I pull my phone out of my pocket, flip to the app I want to play and hit play. It's annoying though.

3. I can't recall what the third one was at the moment.

1. I've had the same problem, it took uninstalling the app, so I could purchase it from Google. To keep my data, I usually use Titanium Backup, and backup the app data only before uninstalling. So when I reinstall it still saves my apps progress/game saves.

2. Not quite sure, I've searched around but haven't found anything.

I tried uninstalling the app. It didn't work for me. :(

Google now thinks I've purchased the app, but just haven't installed it.

1 - This has happened to me as well. Since you have the app installed the market is seeing that and considers it as purchased. The only way I have been able to correct the problem is to clear data and uninstall the app then go to the market in app settings and clear both cache and data. This has cleaned everything up for me and I was able to purchase the app and update. Amazon free apps are great, but lack of updates is annoying.

2 - I think it is based on whatever is running in the background and/or first in the queue to start up. I'm not aware of a setting or app that will give priority to one app over the other with this though.

3 - Then I can't help you with the third one at the moment. ;)

You can make a new google account and change your google account that's feeded in your Android devIce
To Do It -
go to the setting option and then applications, in application go to Gmail and then clear the user data option, once you clear the Gmail data, and IM data from application you will see a notification/alert and that will require you to do the gmail setup again, use the other gmail account to register.

I Hope This Solves Your Problem :)

1) Something I just thought for you to try: You're a root user, yes? I remember you talking about unlinking with TB in a previous thread. So get a root explorer app (ES File Explorer is the best IMO) and rename the APK. I don't know if this will actually do anything, as the internal name string is probably the same. But I'm not sure how to change that...although changing that string would definitely prevent this problem.

2) I use 3-4 apps with bluetooth. Google Music, Audible, Pandora primarily. And I control them through Widget Locker. My bluetooth commands will always access the lastly accessed app. If I do a fresh boot without opening any of the apps, I think it chooses whatever loaded last. But sometimes I have to manually exit (or force close) one of my apps so it doesn't override the bluetooth controls of another app.

3) This can be fixed by RTM. Completely operator error. Sheesh :p

1. I am a root user. The market still shows the app as Purchased though. Even after it's uninstalled and the cache is cleared, the market shows the app as purchased. So when I go to download it, it doesn't try to charge me, but then freaks out because I haven't paid. Ugh.

2. I would love it if BT command accessed the last app. It seems to always access PowerAmp. I did have the weird thing the other day where I was playing Amazon MP3, hit the button and PowerAmp started, hit it again and Amazon MP3 started. The music would not stop, only the player changed.

3. I still can't remember what it was which is irritating to me. I have an annoying problem that I can't remember apparently.

I don't want to change the Google account on my device though.

I remembered the 3rd one. ONly took a day and a half too.

It's the GPS nag. Every time I turn on GPS, I get the message that says if I turn it on, God and everyone will know where I am and will track me and the FBI can drop a nuke right on my head if I want to, do I really want to do something this foolish. Drives me insane. I'll see the nuke coming a mile away. I can easily side step it. Anyway, can I disable this nag screen?

1) Oh...ugh...I see now. Yeah, that's definitely something you need Google to clear out. Does it still show as purchased on the web market, out of curiosity?

2) If you manually close PowerAmp, does it still insist on being top dog?

3) I don't get that notification on any of my devices outside of the very first time I enable location services. Maybe try an AOSP ROM?

1. Yes, it shows purchased in the market. Any ideas on how to get Google to clear this out or should I just give up on it?

2. If I disable headset controls altogether in PowerAmp, then the last player I used takes precedence. That's what I want. If I re-enable controls, then turn my headset off/on, PowerAmp takes precedence unless another app is actually on the screen.

3. I expected to get the message the first time, but not every time. I'm a Sense fanboy I'm afraid. I also can't seem to find any other ROMs that actually support wireless charging either.

WTH was I thinking, Privacy?!?!? Sorry about that!!! :p

Location settings on mine:

Use wireless networks, check

Location setting, on

Use GPS satellites, check

Phone finder, no-check

I've only got three settings there

VZW location service - unchecked
Standalone GPS - unchecked
Google location - checked

Standalone GPS is the one making the message pop up. I click it here and the message appears.

OK, NOW I follow.

On an HTC, that's a normal privacy warning.

If for some reason you want to control your GPS radio, leave that on and then use the notification quick setting if you have a new Sense version or a widget if you don't.

I thought it was from one of those sort of places that you were seeing that warning.

The dialog you're seeing won't change app behavior between an HTC and an AOSP rom, it simply tells you what you're in for if you don't pay attention to app settings.

I've found on the newer HTC phones that I don't have to babysit the GPS radio for power savings, unlike the older models.

I have actually wondered what does checking use VZW location based services do or enable?
Given I don't or have ever used any VZW app...

I had the answer all written up but then I lost it before I was able to click 'submit reply.'
