Root Throttling ??

Boost will start throttling after about 2.5GB of usage. But they wont start that until later this year from what I've heard.

Yeah basically Boost reserves the right to throttle down to 3g speeds, but there's a fix for that apparently. Why in the hell would Boost leave the controls for the throttle on the phone?

That's what rooting is all about. Hack and remake.

I get that, but why would a carrier even allow it to be possible for someone rooted to skirt around the throttle? Why not have the controls carrier-side as opposed to phone-side? It just perplexes me, though I guess there's really no way of knowing if the fix even works yet if Boost hasn't actually started throttling.

Well an old friend from SDX (bad s3ctor) he told me there's a node (for lack of a better word) on the tower that restrict data, So we're burnt once were throttled.

Not so with Wimax though, but as of right now from what I've been told is that when it does go into effect that any combination of data whether 3 or 4G that exceeds 2.5 Gb will cause your 3G data to be throttled to 256 kb. Supposedly 4G will be unaffected and remain unlimited because Sprints contract with ClearWire is for unlimited data at least until the end of 2013.

My 3G speeds are kinda s***y in this town to begin with. Thus if they only throttle 3G, I wouldn't really notice it anyway unless I was watching any latenight youtube videos with 4G turned off for some reason... :P

Wouldn't know bro there ain't NO 4G for like 300 miles, Vegas would be the closest for a 4G experience, well that & blackjack lol

I cannot edit the throttling values with Sq lite editor so I have no way of testing this, is this because were stuck with the S-On ?

I thought the throttling was due to being rerouted through the sprint ports, that if you removed the ports that it would go back to full speed. Though I recall seeing that is a hit or miss and never worked. Though if you guys get throttled to that, honestly sucks to be you guys.

Not being smart but wtf you going to be able to do on a 256k connection? Glad I don't get throttled like that, if I did I would be pissed. Though does this affect sprint dropping that low? As I haven't heard any of my local buddy's complain about it.

it is true and it does suck boost will throttle you after you hit 2.5 g in a month they did it to me last month and i am hoping someone could come up with a fix to bypass that and post how to do it because i would love to get around the throttling it sucks almost slow as 56k dial up on my pc lol and we dont have 4g service in my area of Indy even though they are claiming they are upgrading all of their towers but that wont help because they are upgrading to the LTE network which my phone will not go off of with 4g
