Root throwing in the towel

I'm talking about the easy linux folder created after unzipping the easy linux zip that the guide said to download. Adb and such isn't in that folder. Getting frustrated

Go to unlimted.io and download their stuff. I can only help if you use their stuff.
And don't get frustrated :)

I'll walk you right through it as long as you can follow my commands.

Gives me a list of directories and files. Don't see adb but fast boot is there and the easy linux and shooter root s-off fix directory

You're being vague. I need to know the exact names.

There shouldn't be a space in fastboot.

These discrepencies will cause problems.

I just wanted to chime and say I have been following your attempts through the various threads, unfortunately I don't have the skill set yet to provide any valuable advice. That being said I truly can not wait to see you finally get this done. It reminds me of a phrase I use to hear growing up "if you want something bad enough, you will find a way. If not, you find a excuse. You definitely are finding a way. I hope you don't give up.

Ok. After you dload the .tgz file from unlimited.io, your home folder should look like this.
deef45.png

Now right click on ControlBearRelease_shooter_ICS_VM_LINUX.tgz and select extract here. Now your home folder should look like this.
48d76e.png

Now open terminal and type cd ~/ControlBearRelease_shooter_ICS_VM_LINUX
7b8926.png

Now type chmod 755 ControlBear adb fastboot
8d337c.png

Now type sudo ./ControlBear

Follow on-screen instructions.

(It didn't go further into the process on the screenshot because I didn't have my phone plugged in.)

Just got home from work but my home folder DOES look exactly like that. Only thing I see I'd that I may not have had a space after cd and before ~. I will try in the morning if I have time. Thank you for the well detailed screenshot

Wow... lol

Dude you could've made this a LOT easier on yourself by following the guide I wrote. Using Ubuntu is making it way more confusing than it needs to be... the guide was written for a specific distribution. Hope you get this sorted out.

adb isn't supposed to be in that folder. It's in the other folder that you were asked to unzip, with everything you need to do being contained in two shell scripts (aside from switching from "administrator" to "user").

With all due respect and no disrespect intended at all, as I stated , the guide for some reason wasn't working for me so I'm doing what I can to get this done. Stupid errors on my part ? Probably but we're not all programming masterminds . I'm trying. 'nuff said

I never saw a message from you indicating where you had a problem? What part of the guide caused you to be stuck? I'd like to help you get this done, but if I don't know what the problem is, I can't do that...

This is when we need a 100 step s-off guide for dum dum's :P

I can't begin to say how this has gotten under my skin all day. I can not think of a better example to make someone feel like crap. I understand it is online and we somewhat govern ourselves. It just bothers me to read such a lack of intregity in one simple comment. Our goal should be to help, encourage, and share with one another to have a growing group of people, who like the developers, encourage the success of others around them. Even if it is a online community. While there is a wide spread age group, we should still be values driven where everyone can feel safe trying things new, because other people will be willing to help them. Bashing someone for trying something new does not inspire anyone, children or adults. How is that comment inspiring? How is it helpful? Who knows what his history is? Maybe there are circumstances he is in that we may never understand. What we can is offer suggestions to ignite all the potential he has in trying and getting this done. While many attempts have failed I am sure he has learned a lot of transferrable skills that will come into play someday. He also knows a lot of ways that don't work, adults call it expierence. Its our job as people here, no matter what to try and positively help everyone we meet. And the same for you, maybe you were having a bad day, don't know...If so, sorry.
Constructive criticism and prompt feedback will get anyone far in life, but we need to ask ourselves.. . why am I giving this feedback, who is it helping, what can I do to help...

Sorry guys for the long drawn out.....

And It's comments like that that make people want to just say forget it. You won't hear from this dum dum again

I think he was calling himself a dum dum?

Anyway, I don't know how to make it any simpler than the steps and screenshots I provided.

Make your screen look exactly like the screenshots and it will work. Getting the timing right on the wire trick... that's another matter lol.

Best of luck.
