thunderbolt vs. Incredible

playing off of everything all you ppl are posting. i picked up a TB to replace my htc incredible and droid x. does anyone know the going prices for the HTC Incredible or Droid X. what would be a good reasonable price to sell it for? thanks in advance

I just sold one of each on eBay. I started them both at $199 and got $275 for my Incredible and $320 for the X. :)

ETA: The Incredible had like five generic cases with it and some extra screen protectors, and the X had two high-gloss cases and a shell holster combo. Both had the original boxes, manuals, chargers etc.

I was wondering about that myself.

As far as the difference between the two, here's what I have noticed so far:

1. It seems a bit more cheaply built than the incredible. It's more thin plastic, less metal, less glass. The slim plastic piece between the bottom of the screen and the frame can lose it's seal with the screen and cause light leakage from the 4 android buttons. I have seen a couple models that leaked light from there right out of the box. Evo is also known to have a leakage problem.

2. Potential storage space actually SMALLER than the Incredible. The Inc has about 6.6 GB usable space on the phone, and can take a 32 GB card. Only usable space on the TB is the 32 GB card.

3. Faster than the Inc. I think the processor can just process faster then the Inc. The extra RAM and the extra dedicated phone storage probably help there also.

4. Heavy. It's not so much the size, but the weight that I notice in my pocket.

5. Screen. You can't coach size, and it gives me a whole new perspective on everything I was doing on the incredeible. For the better. That being said, the screen is much more pink than the Incredible's(at least those Incredibles that didn't have pink screens). I compared three models at my Verizon store and they were all the same. Also, can't compete with my Incredible's amoled screen for color and picture quality and depth.

6. Many apps not supporting this phone yet, including My Verizon, which makes me chuckle. Mobile recovery and NFL Mobile not being supported isn't as funny. Sure this will be remedied at some point.

7. Battery. Seems about the same to me so far, but charges a bit slower than the Inc, which is a little annoying.

Final first impression: Doesn't do everything better, but I can't go back to the Inc after experiencing the screen difference. By the way, probably no 4G in my area till around 2013, so I bought this as a 3G phone.

Actually there is like 2.5 gb usable internal space on the tb. That could possibly change with future updates to allow the entire 8gb. Also the inc charged slowly at first until they released an update which allowed it to charge quicker.

I recently switched from the Incredible to the Thunderbolt. I do feel that there are many small added features on the Thunderbolt that I like better but I'm still up in the air about this phone. The call quality is much better than the Incredible- not perfect but definitely better! The speed without a doubt blows the Incredible away and the battery goes without saying .. still waiting for that to get better. I do agree that the phone is cheaply made. My Incredible felt way more solid. For example, the volume button on the side of the TB is just terrible, especially with the case on. On my Incredible they were more raised and easier to use. I use the kickstand every now and then, but still am having a bit of trouble getting used to the size. The Incredible felt comfortable in my hand and I was able to do pretty much everything one handed. Definitely not as "pocketable" as the Incredible, not as easy to transport around in a pocket or bag; way bulkier.

What did you think you were getting? Phone is huge...lol

I honestly can't believe anyone could think the Incredible was built better then the Thunderbolt ... The Incredible creaked when squeezed, the camera stuck out , the battery door was flimsy and the whole phone was cheap plastic. I loved my incredible but it just felt cheap

I also agree with the TB build quality having a better feel than the incredible. The accents on the TB look better as well. The size and weight are a very noticeable difference, but that's what you sign up for when buying a phone with a big 4.3" screen.

Bottom line is the incredible is a good phone, but the TB is just all around better. Not even close. So far battery life is at least as good as I was getting with my inc.

^ this entirely. if I grasped the incredible at all the plastic halves shifted back and forth.

Well, I already notice my power button becoming very mushy and sometimes difficult to click. I do love the phone overall, but there are minor annoyances from keeping it from being great.

Prime example is the speaker. It's awesome! Loud and nice highs. Unfortunately it's ruined by the kickstand. I know they want us to use the stand, but oops! There's the USB slot in the way. So, you gotta stand it up. LED sucks just like the Incredible too.

In the system is pretty great. Very happy with the camera, performance of the phone, and battery isn't as horrible as I feared. I'm generally happy with the upgrade, but the minor annoyances are ..annoying. There's gotta be some sort of project to make the speaker better. Drilling holes in the kickstand?

I think both phones are built pretty bad fromthe battery door to not only charging while kickstand in use, volume control is to loose and big, and power button is just to hard to find an press, and and light leakage why not just extend the screen all the way to the bottom instead of having a space

I can see the USB port being a problem for some it would have been nice if it was on the other side.
Fortunate for me I haven't used my USB port on my thunderbolt and probably wont anytime soon

Downloaded Speedtest.net app this past sat. and ran it on my dads incredible vs. my thunderbolt. We were in dekalb, GA at the time. My thunderbolt was INCREDIBLY FASTER! Even did a speedtest off the website and not the app (if that makes a diff.) and my thunderbolt still TKO'd my dads incredible.

Unfortunatly I'm back in statesboro now and I might not see 4g here untill 2013...ill probably have a phone that will be controlled by my mind by then..

Well I like it because sense added some needed much features that was missing on the incredible, and fixed some things that most woundn't notice, but I did.

Can you elaborate a little more, what are some of the added features?

Does anyone miss their trackpad for fine tuning messages and selecting things; that and lack of 4G in my area are the main things that are holding me back from buying the TBolt when my contract ends (April 8th)

You paid full price for the TB?

I have both and 3g download speeds the thunderbolt consistently does a little bit better than the incredible... upload, the incredible consistently has been doing better than the thunderbolt. We're not talking much difference though, even when run at the same time about a foot apart from each other.

The thunderbolt's batter is better, even vs my rooted incredible.

One thing that really surprises me about my two active phones, is that the incredible gets better reception in poor reception areas. My incredible will get 3g in my office in West Chester, PA... but the thunderbolt is hit or miss if it has data service there. Everywhere else they both have service.

My 4G speeds, since I'm not actually in the major city, are rocking around 1 megaBYTE per second (I don't use the kiloBITs, or megaBITs because that doesn't tell me easily how fast I can download a 4 meg song LOL).

At first I thought the thunderbolt was big - now I just think my incredible is small.

When I first got it, I had data problems everywhere... then I just turned off my old phone. Problem solved. Haha.

Ahhhh... Another tweaker amongst us... Good idea... That's what I will do... ;)

Dennis

Those speaker holes will work well, but when you put the phone in your pocket those holes will get filled with any pocket lint. Maybe?

I gotta think HTC would have thought of that? Well, then again, maybe not. I'm looking at you Mr. 1400mah Battery.

Ok I have had it for a week and love the TB but still not used to its weight and size. Got a seidio holster, not the answer for me. I really liked the size and weight of the incredible, but the TB screen is amazing, especially the larger fonts for middle age eyes. How are those of you that switched from the incredible feeling about the TB?

I love it! I'm not having any issues with the size/weight at all. As soon as I got it, I loved it, and when I was packing up my Inc to send it off to the buyer I remember thinking, "Man, this thing is tiny!"

Battery life is better.

Not even close. If you want to compare 3G to 3G then note that the Thunderbolt has a slightly larger battery. But if you're using 4G, the battery life is noticeably less than other 4G phones out or going to be manufactured. Only solution is to get an extended battery or charge during the day.

Bummer....

I really want dual core and with the announcement of all future phones to have the inductive charging thing built in, I gonna wait on these features. Perhaps the Bionic if it has the inductive charging.
