Root TiBu Free or Pro

So i have stalked these forums for a while hoping for some answers on 2.2 or something to feed my patience but im slowly just getting fed up with 2.1 -.-

my question is in order to get icarus do i have to get tibu pro or can i just use the free edition? I dont really mind the tediousness. or even reinstalling a bunch of apps.

actually icarus, cm6, & cm7 recommend using clockwork recovery/rom manager.

for icarus you need 2.5

for cm6 & 7 you need 3

lol. i have no idea what that means. i dont think i came across that info in the tutorial. im somewhat familiar with the terms but i just thought icarus 1.1 was like a remake a androids 2.1

you should read the tut again there is a whole section about cwm, without it you can not flash. You can just use the free version of titanium but that has nothing to do with flashing.

yeah i just did. but the reason for my question is that I thought i had to root in order to get icarus. for the rooting part, i wanted to know if i can just use the free version of tibu (that is if root is required for icarus.)

to root get z4root, you will have to google it as its not on the market any longer.

Titbu is for backing up downloaded/system apps and is also used to remove bloatware, but because icarus is already bloat free it is not needed. The z4root that Playfulgod spoke about is what roots the phone then you need clockworkmod 2.xxx in order to flash icarus.

you can get the free version, it's good to keep back ups of apps incase you flash other roms so you can put all your apps back quickly. Download it and just keep it incase you ever need it, the free version. But you still need clock work mod 2.XXX, NOT the one on the market, there are threads around here about how to get it installed.

Appkik is good for backing apps up too n its free.
