Root Time for a change of ROM?!?

Lord Clockan is about to release an update to Ice Cold Sandwich soon (he said in his ICJ thread), the It's Alive edition or something like that. Does that float your boat? :)

It's out, but was on Ice Cold Sandwich 8.7 just two weeks ago. Maybe JellyTime R21, hhhmmm... Downloading aospX 1.0.0-MR1.

Amazed.

I just found what looks to be a perfect vanilla Android ICS ROM... Now we have Sense 4.1 on the DHD.
Note to self. Never never complain about not having flashed so ROM for so many days.

One of the newer ROM's out is PACman.

PACman = Paranoid + Aokp + Cyanogen

Am a bit confused. I thought Cyanogen and Paranoid were both AOKP?

Sabsa Prime 8.5 is out but not much feedback yet. In the past that ROM has been pretty hard to get working well with users mixing and matching parts of different ROM's to get it working well. But with the move to the newer Desire X/Android 4.0.4 base since version 8, it is looking more promising.

On the same thread Venom0642 also said he has a Sense 4.1 ROM available. You have to PM him if you want to Beta test it. This is an Android 4.0.3 ROM. Not sure what it is based on.

The Viper Team is also offering a Beta of a new Desire HD ROM. Link to apply to the Beta is in the TrickDroid thread.

Decided not to apply for any of the Beta's.

Just on starting 4th day with aospX 1.0.0-MR1. Will stick with that one for a bit. When I have spare time I want to try to figure out why editing the 01sysctl file on this ROM has been causing me boot issues.

It's alright.

Not too laggy but multitasking is slow. Not much to customise but the camera is working ( but sometimes it doesn't work)
Nice to have sense widgets again.

Same feeling I have with TrickDroid. Gives my phone the new look, but it feels laggy at times.

im happily using ice cold sandwich at the moment, so thats me sorted for ICS aosp, but just out of curiosity if i want to try a different one, what are generally considered the best for battery life if i wanted to try ICS sense, or jellybean?

reading on here, most posts are mentioning sabsa prime, or jellytime, that seem about right?

and also out of curiosity, why no jellybean sense, they all seem to be aosp?

thanks

There really are no Sense ROM's these days which work as well as the AOSP/AOKP ROM's.

In ICS, aospX is "fully working", and Ice Cold Sandwich issue now is just headset buttons. The best ICS ROM, Blackout ICS still has no WiFi Hotspot function.

As for Sense 4 and 4.1 ROM's, they really just don't fit. Users who claim they are fast or buttery must be drunk on Sense juice or got used to slower initial releases so the new ones feel "fast".

If you want to try a Sense 4 ROM, the new VenomDHD seems like a good bet. Full Sense 4.1. Scaling and camera issues and more to be discovered I am sure. But it has a good team behind it and should improve over time.

So far, all Sense 4 ROM's negate the Sense battery life advantage IMO. All drain fast.

As for Sabsa, Alirez_sos tries hard, but he splits time between two ROM's (Sense 3.6 and 4) and while some users have good results other still have major issues like "disappearing" SD Cards, issues with the dialer and calls, WiFi issues...

It's like each new releases is an amalgamation of new parts and the ROM is going a step forward in one aspect, but a step back in another. But if you like to flash a lot, its a nice ROM to follow.

As for Jelly Bean... no Sense JB ROM's as of now because they have to wait for stock Jelly Bean Sense ROM's to port.

Why don't you give aospX a try. The launcher is CM like, but it is Android 4.0.4? The 122 MB download already included gapps.

Did not know where to post this, but here is as good as any place I guess. SuperSu 0.97 is out. Flashable zip available in XDA.
