Root Time for a change of ROM?!?

So which is the best CM10.1 ROM? The unofficial CM10.1 (JB-JOP40D), cfX, JellyTime or the unofficial nighties.

Answer and reasons please. I have only use JB-JOP40D, and unless there is a compelling reason to switch will use that.

When I was younger I would have flashed all and figured it out myself :D

Hope people don't mind if I throw a question in here.....

Can anyone recommend a ROM that includes Chrome, and has a working GPS? I'm currently on CM7 but can't get Chrome on there. Many thanks.

Feels like ages since I've popped my head in here!!

So... I recently had an email from my carrier, Orange UK, telling me I'm due an upgrade. Although I am tempted to upgrade (who wouldn't want a new phone for free), I have been giving the idea of buying a phone outright and getting a SIM only deal - don't think I wanna be stuck on a 2 yr contract!!

Having looked at what is available, I think I'm going to jump ship, moving away from HTC/Orange and get a Nexus 4, direct from Google and put a

aospX. Does not include the Chrome browser by default, but Chrome works perfectly with this ROM.

I was pretty happy on CM10.1 but then one night i decided to go through the developer options (not a good idea tbh). I clicked on something like 'Simulate secondary screen' and then my phone froze. Rebooting after a battery pull didn't help as it froze halfway through the boot animation :'(
And I had to try several times to get into the bootloader as the vol down key doesn't work properly.

Only other rom I had was AOSPX and although I don't really like the downgrade, it's a bit snappier and there are fewer FC's. Yay.

Might try a CFX if they're more stable (although my problems might be device related)

I don't know, with 4.2 I feel like it might be better to roll back to the earlier releases. A few minor issues but fewer reports of random reboots and app FC's.

I am not sure since I did not get random reboot issue myself. It just looks like there were less reports before. Maybe you could give the M1 release a try.

I knew we could get you to drop Sense!

I really LOVE the CM stuff... currently running it on my Nexus 4... thinking of changing up for a bit, but know I'll come back to CM! :)

CM10.1 has cured my Sense withdrawal issue...

Yessss! Yeeessssss! Knew I did, that abandon sense and join us you would! :D

Been running 10.1 on the resound, hafta give it a flash on the inspire as soon as it cools down. It's still smoking after s-on and s-off half a dozen times!

I always come back to cm as well. Currently i run 10.1 on the resound, wich I have to use at work. The one X I have become accustomed to sense 4. I take that phone with me if we leave in the evenings,so sense 4 in small doses is a nice change. :P

When I only had 1 device it was never without some form of AOSP for very long, and it was cm way more than it wasn't! :)

I love the new notifications. I love being able to put my Agenda on the lock screen. What can I say. Android 4.2.2 really runs well on the HTC Desire HD. Surprisingly, well compared to 4.1.x

Well, the Empire does lose in Return of the Jedi (although D-U-R-X will disagree with me on who the dark side is).

We lucked out big time on this one.

Surprisingly there is a revival in even Sense ROM development:

Nik Project X Rebirth (Sense 4.1 Lite, Android 4.0.4)

Strike S (Sense 3.6, Android 4.0.4)

SVHD (Sense 4.1 Full, Android 4.0.4)

ViperDHD is still in development, and the Blackout decided to try to come out with one last update to their ROM.

But I do not see myself going back to Sense. I am running 4.2.2. My wife's GNex is on 4.2.1 :D

Gotta love when a root and custom Rom lets you run a newer android version than one of googles proprietary devices :D

Using Trebuchet. Trebuchet has gotten good enough that I don't bother installing Nova Prime. Nova had more options, but all the ones I use are in Trebuchet already.

Back on Blackout 3.2 for a bit. Felt like a change of scenery. When switching between the two from Nandroid Clear Data on Gmail and Google+ to get sync of these two apps working well. Sense feels sluggish after being on CM for so long.

Getting sick and a bit bored of ICS, so it's time to move to another JB rom. What's my best bet for speed/reliability? I quite like the look of the new Paranoid Android version?

I'm running the latest AOKP ROM and had no problems at all. I've had lag appear after a couple of days with others but this one is my daily. It will remain so for quite a while I think

Oops, just realised that I meant PACman ROM, not paranoid android. Just flashed pacman, and gotta say - it's nice to be back on JB! PACman has had some really nice changes to it, but I'll see if there are any drawbacks soon.

PAC is stil bad for me... laggy and there are lots of reboots now and apps not responding... ;(

What are my options now? Back to CM10?
