Time for a change

I am not having any troubles flashing kernels, roms when they are in my downloads folder and not the root level. This is using Ra v2.2.1 for the Evo and using his latest release v3.0

I'm still using cw. I keep hearing amon is better on the evo.
Have yinz used both amon and cw?
Really starting to think I should flash amon.

With the Evo, I've only used Amon_Ra so..... no troubles here;) Have not tried ClockworkMod.

Changing the recovery to Amon_Ra for the Evo is pretty easy though. Download this and make sure it's on the root of your sd card and NOT in any folder. Turn off phone, hold down power and volume down, then it will ask you to update. Press volume up for yes, it will flash v2.3 and there you have it , new recovery;)

this recovery is for an Evo only, do not try to flash

Same goes for the latest CWM recovery, works fine

Only problem I've had with CW recovery were the bad nandroids on the Hero. I figured out it was the 2 point 2 blue theme. All others worked fine.
Still haven't had a problem with CW on the evo. I'll probably keep running it until it screws something up, then switch.

The only issue I have seen with the CWM recovery is updating radio. 3.0.0.5 was smart enough to tell me it couldn't flash the radio. 2.5.0.7 said it flashed fine, but it didn't. Reading on xda found that others have same issue.

Went back to RA1.6 and got my radio update. Then moved back to 2.5.0.7. Did me fine for GB.

Hmm, is there a problem flashing new radios with ClockworkMod Recovery? I have not gotten around to flashing the latest radio and I am using ClockworkMod Recovery. Has everyone had a problem with that or is it isolated? I guess I would have to flash back to Amon RA Recovery if it is.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the thread on xda-developers after some deeper searching. It looks like flashing radios works fine with ClockworkMod Recovery version 2.5.0.7, but not on the latest one which is version 3.0.0.5. The other issue stemmed from people trying to flash a new radio when using the FireRat mod.

Dumb question re: radios. I use the ClockworkMod Recovery on my wife's phone. How do I find out what her radio is and then how do I know if it's the latest version? She currently has the 2.5.0.7 CW version. Also, how can I tell if her PRL is up to date? Since she's rooted these things don't get updated...right? I know...hold the laughter for the noob. :)

Go into Settings, then About Phone, then Baseband Version. That will tell you what radio baseband you are on.

To check for a new PRL and profile, you will have to flash back to a Sense UI based ROM, like your stock Android 2.1 ROM or Liquid Sense 2.1. You can check and update your PRL and profile on that ROM and then flash back to your previous ROM, but just remember to do a Nandroid first before flashing to the Sense ROM.

Dude...you're all kinds of helpful and full of Hero knowledge. Appreciate it!
