Help tiny display dots were greatly disappointing

I've had every iPhone, you could not see any digitizer grids or dots underneath. I've had Capacitive Samsung touchscreen phones, couldn't see any digitizer remnants underneath. Just screams cheap.

Dirt on the tires of a new car doesn't even compare to this problem. Orange peel in the paint would be a better analogy.

I don't think anything on this phone screams cheap. To each his own. What are you gonna say about the plastic atrix body and screen issues there ?

I'm looking at my iPhone 3G right now, and there are dots on the glass.

I'm looking at two right now and a 3GS and an iPhone 4. Also looking at a Samsung Solstice and Eternity and can't see any dots or lines no matter how hard I try or what light I put it in.
It's just annoying to see them on a 'high end' phone is all.

No offense but you must not have very good vision. I'm looking at my iPhone 4 screen and can see it under the glass. Now it's not nearly as pronounced as the inspire. But it's definitely there. I could see it on my captivate when i still had that thing as well But in the end it's what your happy with. It doesn't bother me to see it at all. If it bothers you then return the phone.

You're right, my bad. Inconvenient typo. That was supposed to be N86.

I haven't had the N8. I almost bought it, but the lack of developer support (slingplayer specifically) held me back. My bad.

Is anyone else experiencing lackluster camera quality? I can't explain how it is, on the live preview it looks great quality, but when the final shot comes out they are all blurry/noisy. I don't have my iPhone 4 anymore to compare.

See if you can tell what I mean here... I took over 15 shots of this same image using different settings and this was generally the outcome.

The best I could get was this:

Not the worst ever, but definitely not the best, not even above average.

Yes, I know how to use the touch to focus. I've also tried letting the camera focus.

So far this is my favorite phone, but if anyone could give me camera tips i'd appreciate it!

The last one is not too bad. These shots from phonescoop looks pretty good though :

Review: HTC Inspire 4G : Photos/Videos (Phone Scoop)

Sorry but no. Just No.
Do yourself a favor. Sign out and buy your iPhone.

Me? I've had every iPhone as well as forty other smartphones (true).

As young of a mobile OS as Android is it's far better than iOS already.

Hands down, this HTC Inspire I bought on Sunday is just amazing. I cannot say enough good things about it. This is an excellent model.

The dots in the display are normal. That means everything is fine.

I might suggest you all stop with the obsessive seeking of faults, & enjoy a phone that thousands of people would love to have if they could buy one.

Want a perfect phone? That's easy. Wait about ten years and they'll be close... :)

i went from the iphone 4 to inspire 4g. and i can honestly, the iphone 4's camera is a whole lot better. its quite a disappointment.

Coming form an Iphone 3GS this phone is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better display and response wise..there is just no comparison.

The Camera is better..although i admit it does not do as well indoors as it does out doors..(some funky colors especially yellows..but it could just be me..im still learning).

One thing i notice is that the focus is VERY SENSITIVE to movements..so i think from what little bit of using it its very obvious that one reason why some get better pics than others is some have a more steady hand than others as the auto focus seems to be in HYPER DRIVE and very MINUTE changes in hand position and distance disrupt the picture very quickly and then it auto-focuses which works against you mnaully trying to adjust by moving it in and out.

I am guessing either the auto-focus on the iphone 4 is FASTER (read..INSTANTENOUS) or it just doesnt show as bad with the slight movements being ONLY 5mp...i cant say for sure.

I do know that pics i have tried with the camera in a fixed position are FAR better.

As far as Baldilocks eyes, all i can say is that I quoted him as saying
I remember when cars were just a fad
in one of my VERY FIRST POSTS here and then he didnt understand what i was talking about when i made a wise crack about the elderly (all in good fun)....followed by someone REPORTING me for the joke..so.

Assuming he was being honest...he may be very old indeed! (if he can remember the Model A being produced and CARS just being a "fad'...ha ha ha ).

I noticed the dot also when I purchased the phone, but it has not botherd me, as for the camara, it's alright, but thats why I have a nice HD Panasonic camara I use for pics..And a cam corder for vids, guess Im lucky that these small things dont bother me.

I noticed the dot thing too. It does irk me a little bit but ive learned to live with it. The camera flash over exposes the shot. I wish the notification light was brighter or larger... im coming from a n1.

Funny, I had the phone for about 24 hours until I noticed the dots. Was indoors, waiting in line at Starbucks when I held the phone at a certain angle. I havn't noticed it again since, so it's a non-issue, at least for me.

When ever I check my phone to see if I missed a text, email, or whatever I always see the notification for those things just fine. So I don't see a problem with the LED notification.

So I go to check out an Inspire today thinking I'm just about ready to go this route after trying the Captivate for about a month. The first thing I notice out of the box was the tiny dots on the display screen.

Regardless of their importance or need, this proved to be a fatal flaw in design for me to now remotely consider purchasing this phone.

I suppose using the Captivate has spoiled me. I saw no reference to the tiny dots in the many reviews I encountered the past few weeks. This was surprising to me given the popularity of Htc and their devices.

I now understand these dots are common in these types of displays. But now I'm even more confused as to why anyone would sink themselves in a contract with such a substandard display.

I honestly dont give a rats ass about tiny dots that you can only see in a certain type of light.

The screen is beautiful when it is on so I dont see the point in judging a phone based on when its turned off, given we cant use the phone when in fact it is turned off.

But hey thats just me, to each his own lol

Then you MISQUOTED me. I said "remember people used to think automobiles would never catch on"....... Good try though.

Not for nothing but I think you guys are crazy. Look hard enough and any great phone has flaws. Point me to a perfect phone and I will buy it, until then, get over it. These dots are only seen when holding phone at a certain angle in certain lighting conditions, or so I am told. I still have a hard time seeing them myself.

I think some of you will try and find anything wrong with anything just to b*tch about it. Tell me in what way these dots effect the functionality of the phone or even the look of the screen itself.

I can't see the dots but the color is definately off when you take pics indoors....its better than an iphone 3gs but it's probably beaten by most modern phones.

That, combined with a tad shorter battery life are my only gripes...the phone is great other wise.

I truely can not see these dots..im trying but i just dont see them.

I would be interested in knowing if the guys who see the dots are accustomed to using monitors with super high resolutions all day? Maybe i don't notice it because i look at a 23inch monitor at 1600x1050 all day long and to me..the display on the inspire is awesome.

They are actual physical dots and a grid line (part of the digitizer). I can see it in all types of lights. If you can't see it, turn the screen sideways and put it near a bright light.
