Help tiny display dots were greatly disappointing

The Display Type is: S-LCD capacitive touchscreen.

If you read up on this technology you will learn about those "dots".

They are _not_ artifacts, so please don't criticize a technology you don't understand.

These dots are part of what makes this such a stellar display. The fact that they bother some people reflects more about the person than the display.

If one is looking for faults or problems, please at least take the time to educate yourself, instead of condemning something you know nothing about.

Cheers :)

maybe you could post a link to some good reading on the display, for the betterment of the community at large

I'm unable to do so at the present, as I'm waiting for my flight at LAX airport, posting from my phone. (this is a terrific phone in my opinion) :)

The Inspire elitist attitude makes the forums here a difficult place to want to come to (and yes, I have one). When someone posts that they don't like something about the phone, instead of agreeing but saying it's not a problem for you, or trying to help the person, everyone calls them names and dismisses their opinion. This is a place to post about the phone and share with the group, not a place to win the approval of a couple forum members who take it personally if someone doesn't think this phone is perfect.

I do see the dots, but not on a regular basis and I am loving the phone so far. For me, the dots are not a deal breaker but I can see how it could bother others. The one thing I keep thinking to myself is that this phone is such a awesome value for the price. Since others compared this to the captivate, I'll say that that phone caused me grief from the day I got it. Yes, the display was wonderful but it proved no use. This phone has worked great from the instant I got it, which is light years ahead of what I had. HTC knows what they are doing on the software side and I can overlook some of the hardware annoyances.

There is no inspire elitism. when the gripe is real or actually affects the usage and or functionality of the phone people discuss it on these forums fine. When you pick something that in many peoples opinion is so asinine its seems as though your just searching for a reason to hate because you want to not like the phone. Almost like you had to justify returning it so you could get that atrix and not feel bad

Everybody has their reasons....

The way people are coming off in reply to these people not liking the dots make it seem like we're better than them in the fact that the dots don't bother us. The feeling comes off rather strongly, actually. I think that's what drives the elitism comment.

I can see why they are defensive when we say it's a stupid reason to return the phone. It's all in the way of delivery of the opinions being discussed.

it might come off that way but its not meant to, its difficult to convey emotion in a forum, although I will say again its unbelievable that this NON issue would be a deal breaker laughable at best, and thats why it comes off that way because most are amazed that this is even brought up

So does anyone think this OP is someone else who just signed up another account??? Like maybe my friend baldilocks himself lol I mean he signed up in feb 2011 and has a total of one post and its about the same gripe my boy baldi has coincidence?? LOL

Why even raise speculation like that.... why can't you just let it be? Let's get back on topic, I think... Because this is going to get out of hand, real soon.

This ^

Returning this phone simply because you can see "dots" when light is put on the screen at angles is just kind of silly

Name a phone that you arent going to find a stupid flaw on?

If its not dots itll be gps if its not gps it'll be build quality, if not that then crappy software

The list goes on and on

They have every right to complain about it and return the phone, just as you have every right to not gripe about the dots and keep the phone. Why is this even an issue? I don't understand. Let the poor guys be... they're stating their opinion on something that they don't like on the phone, and they returned that. How does them returning the phone negatively effect anybody else that purchased an Inspire. It doesn't... it doesn't effect anybody in any way except for the person who returned it.

Sigh....

It is laughable, to me anyway, since I just don't see these dots. I have tried but they are just not there. I have a good eye for detail, and I am very discerning when looking at monitors, LCD/Plasma TVs and this to me, is just nit picking. I am not calling anyone names, nor do I thinkk anyone has, I honestly believe that some people look extra hard to find something wrong with everything.

That being said, I do not have a problem with someone returining something because they see something they dont like. A phone is something people use all the time, everyday, if something bothers them about it, by all means they should return it and get something they enjoy better.

I also believe that if these dots bother you so much that the phone was returned, you will not find a phone out there that is up to your quality standards. You will find something wrong with every android phone on the market.

A guy might love a skinny chick, while his best friend may love fat chicks. It's all in the eye of the beholder, so this statement holds no truth behind it.

I'm sure they will find a phone they will love.

Well if your gonna post it on a forum expect reaction to it. If you wanted to be left alone and not bothered you would post in an inspire forum one post or a few about returning a phone let alone returning it for such a reason and not expect reaction

You're right. People should expect a reaction, but the reaction is pretty directed, in such a way that it almost becomes an attack on their competency or self character.

That's your opinion. And if it was shared with mods, they would have deleted posts by now.

The elitism does exist. Sometimes I don't know if I'm at MacRumors or on Android Forums. Just because someone doesn't like something on the phone, doesn't mean that they are looking for reasons not to like the product. I see the dots on the screen. To me, it's not a problem. But I do see how others could have a problem with it. The phone is not perfect; no phone is. But to sit there and downplay anyones complaints is a slap to their faces. They spent their money on this phone with an expectation that it would fulfill their standards. For some, the dots on the screen is a legitimate problem, as they clearly expected better. It's not a problem to me, but it's ridiculous to think that it isn't a problem to someone else. Cut back on the elitist attitudes. I know behind those veils are the highly resourceful, highly knowledgeable posters who make others feel welcome and provide a lot of help to everyone on the forum. We get it, you love your Inspire. As do I.

PS: I personally think the display is among the best I've ever used in terms of quality, responsiveness, clarity, and sensitivity. Top notch display in my opinion.

I personally apologize if i came off that way, to me it just seems to trivial or obsessive to return an amazing phone for those dots

I used my phone for 2 days and never noticed any dots. Then I saw this thread and if I look real closely, under the midday sun, while doing a hand stand and signing the national anthem.....I see them.

I laughed pretty damn hard at this post.:D

did i really just scroll all the way down to the bottom of this post to watch people argue over dots. Dots, I just got the phone and absoutley love it, I saw the dots one time when the phone was powered off, and I really didnt care. This phone is really amazing.

No apology necessary. You're a very helpful poster. I don't have any problems with you. I just don't wanna be on the other end of one of your "attacks" lol
