Hi All. Great phone! Love it.
Is there a way to setup an ICON that when clicked, will start google maps navigation to my home address?
There are times I am lost and I want to quickly hit a "TAKE ME HOME" icon that will automatically start google navigation with my home as the destination.

Was wondering if there is a way to not have a text message show up on the LOCK screen.
I have a friend that does not want his WOMAN see the message that pops up on the lock screen at the bottom.
He doesn't mind that it notifies him because he has his screen locked, but the message shows up underneath where the "pull down" is to start to unlock the phone.
(Does this make sense to anyone else?)

Hmm, I'd like to also know how to hide the incoming text messages from lock screen...Was wondering if there is a way to not have a text message show up on the LOCK screen.

yes you can create an icon for that... long press your home screen and under shortcuts is an icon for Directions & Navigation, and you put in the address you want it to direct you to and anytime you click the icon it pulls up the google maps navigation to the address...
*note: I use Launcherpro and thats where i find the shortcut
from home screen:
menu/settings/call... you should see "clear voicemail notification"....

I didn't know you could do that neither. I was always wondering if I could speak navigate to home and it would take me home but this is good to have too. Just made my shortcut.

Download Handcent,
Disable Notifications in the stock app
Disable popup notification then in handcent.
Also GoSMS can do the same thing.
Both apps have crap loads of options.....
Only way.

ok I have used the search and can't find any topics like this so I will ask it here. I have downloaded video clips and want to remove/delete them. I can't find a way to do it.so can you do a step by step for me please?

I would love to be able to talk to someone who is a techie about alot of questions I have. I have switched from ATT to Verizon and Windows to Android. A biggie is this rooting thing. I never heard of that before and I have an idea what that might be about but not sure.

EDIT: Figured it out. Slide over to your calender. Press the top bar of the calender to actually enter the app. Menu-->More-->Calenders-->Uncheck Facebook

Various third party messaging apps have built in reminders for texts. I use ChompSMS. You can also try Handcent. There are also pop up notifiers like SMS Poup if they still make it.

One way is to use AppBrain (AppBrain Android Market - Download the best Android Apps and Games). Just set up an account and you can sync your apps to your online account. Not sure if this is what exactly you are looking for.

There are various apps which will back up your apps on your EVO. Here are some choices:
Astro (do NOT need to be rooted): https://market.android.com/details?id=com.metago.astro
MyBackup Pro (do NOT need to be rooted, but can be): https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackupPro
Titanium Backup (REQUIRES rooting): https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
Those apps will backup the apk files to your SD card. Once backed up on your SD card, you can then mount your phone, navigate to the appropriate folder on your SD card (e.g., "My Backup Pro" or "Titanium Backup" once the app creates those folders) and then drag the apk file you want to your computer for archiving or otherwise.
Perhaps you ONLY need to backup the apps on the SD card for safe keeping?? I would suggest those type of backup programs no matter what you want to do. If you really want them on your computer and you have trouble finding where they are located on your SD card, post another reply here and we'll help you out!

I SECOND SirSlayer's comment about Best Buy. That is NOT the first time I've heard of this happening! It's like they have STOCK in the app developer or get a piece of his action!! It is SO sad that this app is just blindly put on the "recommended" list. And with Best Buy with alllll the phone they sell perpetuating the need for this. Uh boy...
Anyway, I can't find the link right now...sorry
...but there are some "battery saving tips" posts in the forums that are great. There are SOME HORROR STORIES about runaway phone batteries but those are rare. Basically, if you don't want to go the rooting method, do WHATEVER YOU CAN to turn off your unnecessary "background data" apps...gmail and "talk" checking email...The Weather Channel checking for weather updates every FIVE MINUTES...stock applications refreshing your stocks every 2 minutes...Facebook and other widgets pulling data constantly...background sync of your contacts and everything "automatically" etc. etc. You kinda have to through ALL your prefs for your apps and see where there are settings to adjust the frequency of the app checking data.Now you CAN shut EVERYTHING DOWN but then, what is the purpose of having a phone like this that just tells time and makes calls if you don't USE what it can do?? But you CAN limit some access and just see what you want to keep on. Then just manually check and update your data in various apps you want. It's a give and take type thing. If you're not careful and you have EVERYTHING running, I'm SURE your battery WILL TAKE!!
