Ok, so the only problem I have run into so far isn't a big one, just something that I would like to know how to fix. I listened to Pandora at work today by plugging a 3.5 audio output cord into the headphone jack. After unplugging the phone from the cord, the side buttons are stuck on media control. I would like to get those buttons to go back to controlling ringer volume if they will go back.

Well thats an interesting one. I would just try rebooting the device. More than likely Android may thank its still running. Reboot see if that fixes it.
So rebooting didn't help but I went into settings-sounds and display and clicked media volume. I clicked cancel then clicked ringer volume and then clicked cancel. It solved the problem. I love the thread Sir! Its great for us new to Android people.
How about stopping automatic Gmail contacts syncing? Or at least prevent them from showing up in my contacts list?
I wiped out all of my contacts on my EVO so that I had absolutely zero. I used HTC Sync to sync my contacts with Outlook, then went immediately to "People >Menu >View >Phone and made sure only "Phone" was checked.
A few minutes later my Gmail contacts (or contacts from somewhere) showed back up and I had a bunch of duplicates again.
I wiped out all of my contacts on my EVO so that I had absolutely zero. I used HTC Sync to sync my contacts with Outlook, then went immediately to "People >Menu >View >Phone and made sure only "Phone" was checked.
A few minutes later my Gmail contacts (or contacts from somewhere) showed back up and I had a bunch of duplicates again.

From the main screen, click Menu/Settings/Accounts & Sync. Click on Google. Make sure contacts are not selected.

Hmmm Just tested this out. I don't have vibrate on for texts, set my phone to Vibrate and sure enough it didn't vibrate when I got a text. I would think that could be a bug. Though you have set a rule to not vibrate when texts come in so in one case its listening to what you told it to do, and then again its not. lol.
Hope firmware would fix this. Do you think an email to HTC would help?

How do I disable the music player from auto starting when headphones are plugged in? It is quite annoying that I plug in headphones to use with Sirius XM, Pandora, or another app and everytime I do so it launches the music player (not using the widget). Then once the video or app I am using stops it will relaunch the music player again. Any ideas? I checked sound settings but it seems just for ringers.

I've got a question for ya, is there a way to password protect a spacific folder? I have some things on my phone which my cousins do not need to be looking at and they like to play the games on my phone from time to time.

I've read a bunch about how to handle contacts in android and sense. I now have my "people" contacts in order so that when I press people, I only see the people I want to see. Along with this, I've linked all of my "people" to the appropriate facebook/google accounts. I've also unchecked "facebook for sense" under people/view.
Now, my problem is that my "email" contacts are littered with hundreds of addresses that I have no need for. These must have come from when I did a google sync. For example, when I go to compose a new email (in mail or gmail) and I press the To: field, I am presented with a huge list of choices including old craigslist anon email addresses that I probably emailed months ago. How do I get rid of these extra email addresses so that just my "people" emails show up? I'm worried that if I remove my gmail account from "accounts", I will lose some of the people that I actually want to keep. What should I do here?

1. I don't think that can be done
2. Need to defer to someone that uses it. I imagine there is an app for it. Someone posted after you that might have that answer.
Yea not sure that is something they thought of when making the alarm.
This is new to me!!! I don't have that issue. Was there an app you installed that might cause this to happen? Also makisupa79 posted that they need help with Sirius Radio. Maybe you could help them out with that. That would be sweet.
Not that I know of, but there is a way to hide folders on the SD card and then enable them when you want to view them. Load Astro File Manager. When you first load it you will see files on the card that have a period in front of the name. Those are hidden system files. You can add a folder. Name it with a period in front of the name. Then from the top of astros menu choose View/Set Directory Options and uncheck Show Hidden Files. This will hide the folder and its contents from the phone apps. When you are ready to see them again just check that box and then rename the folder without the period.
+ / Folder/Starred. This will give you a folder of your Favorites.
+ / Widget/People, then choose your widget, then choose the favorites. This will give you a visual widget of your favorites.
There is no way to turn off auto-adding of contacts.
But all android-based cell-phones do offer a way to import only the "my contacts" portion of your contacts list. And when you are using the web interface, you can just ignore the "all contacts" list and focus on "my contacts", which you can control fully. Though I have not found the settings for this on the EVO.
EDIT - I did further research on this and the setting to sync "My Contacts" seems to have been left out of this version of Android. Kind of a Bummer. Will keep searching.
EDIT 2 - I found the settings for syncing to just "My Contacts" -
Click All Programs Button and select People. Select Menu/View. Un-Check Show auto Gmail contacts.
Hopefully I am just missing a simple setting, but is there a way to change the color of the LED flash for different notifications? I.E. Blue for texts, green for email, orange for voicemail, etc...
Also, anyone use Handcent SMS, it has the option to change the LED color within its settings, but it doesn't work.

unless you're going to break open the phone and add a blue led, i don't think you'll be getting any blue notification flashes.
Search the market place for "Blink". It's supposed to do stuff like that.

thanks for the suggestion, it doesn't seem to have good reviews in the market and saw a couple reviews stating that it doesnt work on the EVO. I guess I'll have to wait for a better solution.

Yea I don't know if the hardware light has that option. Will look into it though. That would be cool.
