Root Titanium Backup Question

xlr8r!

Newbie
Probably a dumb question, but it is my first time switching out ROMs. TiB has always worked great for me in the past, but after flashing the Mik2.45 ROM and then restoring settings/apps (due to the wipe), it started forcing tons of applications to close while just idling, and I was forced to wipe and re-flash the ROM Should I assume that when I restored the settings/apps from a backup originated from within a different ROM, that it is incompatible with the new ROM? If so, how does one keep from having to re-input all of their various settings each time? I'm not real worried about reinstalling apps, but redoing all my mail, sms, signatures, etc sucks!

You likely restored system data and that is what is messing with your phone. The only data you should restore is user app data for games and such and TB has its own backup for wireless access points and such that I have had no issues with restoring on any rom. Anything else that is system related should not be restored.

After you flash a few different roms, you will get to having an up and running phone in about 20 minutes or so.

So what about mail server settings, signatures, ringtones, etc? Are those covered as well?

I don't know the answers to your questions but hope you don't mind if I tag along in ur thread.

I hear a lot about TB, dl'd the free version to check it out but it seems freaking complicated! Tip to not restore system stuff is NOT intuitive.

I use appmonster, i don't have many apps and I don't want all of them on phone all the time anyway.

The TB feature of freezing aps in paid version sounds interesting, but the custom roms don't have the bloatware to begin with. Using TB to freeze, does it free the ram of the frozen app from the phone?

Thanks in advance!

all of those can be backed up but not recomended to restore. the system apps will have usually some bits and pieces of the previous rom and will conflict with the current rom. so becareful when restoring system apps and its data.

no freezing will not free up memory space. they are still on your phone. it is just your phone will not have access to it unless you unfreeze it.
