Titanium backup/storage amount

Can someone make sense of the way titanium backup list the storage amount? what is this internal storage it list with a little less than 4gb total?

The 8gb internal is spread over the internal you mention, the locked app storage and stock apps / OS.

Everything except "Ext. SD card" is part of the on board 8 GB. It is partitioned into 3 sections, but what I can't figure out is why three?

I believe that apps are installed on "Internal" by default. If you move an app to "SD", I think it is moved to the "SD card" partition in internal memory which means that I am still limited on how many apps may be installed.

As I understand it, the actual SD card is for media only.
