Root Titanium Backup - Update.zip

ROM: MTDEV CM7

I've had no luck flashing the update.zip file to restore Titanium Backup after I flash a ROM. Same hold true for flashing apps + data zips made by Titanium (option under "batch" in pro version).

Even though the flash appears to install Titanium Backup, it never appears in my apps folders file after a ROM flash.

Anyone else got this to work on a MT?

It wasn't a big deal with just Titanium Backup but now the option to also flash your apps (version 5.7) makes me wish I could make use of it.

Yes, if you select system app when you create the update.zip it will appear on first boot... If not you should reboot first, and then flash it.

There was also an update today to fix the non deodexed system apps not being backed up to the update zip.

Yeah, that one fixed a bug in the newest version that lets you add apps/data to update zip... that's gonna be a huge time saver!

I used the "update.zip" option to save titanium as a "system" app and then flashed it with the ROM. It was in my apps folder when I booted up. I then rebooted the OS and flashed the apps + data zip file I had created in the "batch" mode. It installed all my apps with the data. I then restored my launcher settings and was back in business.

My observations:
1) Use the "Filter" to narrow down the applications that are backed up, there is no filtering capability in the batch option itself except by individually checking each file you want to back up (i.e., I only want to save/restore users apps and not system files).

2) It takes a long (several minutes) time for the OS to reboot after flashing the apps + data zip file, so be patient. It will having you thinking it's hung up on the boot animation.

I flashed the ROM; played with the new option, verified it worked, then re-flashed the ROM and did a nandroid restore. Basically, I was tying to establish a systematic way of accomplishing the next version upgrade (unless mtdev gets that camera going in CM9). It that happenes, I'll be restoring my apps from the "Play Store" and data only from Titanium.
