Root Titanium Backup when updating Rom

Good Morning. This is the weekend I am finally going to update from Mik2.61 to Mik3.0. What's been holding me back is I haven't quite figured out Titanium Backup. I'm happy with my setup now but have screwed things up in the past by not backing up properly. I've seen two recommendations in the forums.

Method 1:
Batch "Backup all user Apps"
individually backup system (green) apps.
Batch "Restore missing apps with data"
Individually restore system (green) apps.
Which green apps should I NOT backup? All the green ones seem okay to me.

Method 2:
Batch "Backup all user Apps and system data"
Batch "Restore missing apps with data"
As above restore sytem apps (green only) individually.

I think TB apps/data is saved on my sd card. So after I backup with TB, I move the TB folder from my sd card to my pc. and before I restore, I move the TB folder contents back to my phone, right?

Do I need to check the migration box when updating the mikg roms?

and of course, nandroid first.

I use the scheduler to back up user app data. Then when I flash a new rom, I restore apps individually. The apps without important data, I restore only. Apps with important data, ie: Angry Birds, iMapMyRide, I restore those app+data. Never restore any system apps from a previous rom.

Then I leave one app and download that app from the market, then your downloaded apps from the market will show up. I don't 150 apps like ocnbrze so this isn't time consuming for me. I can usually flash and set up my new rom in about 30-40 minutes. This is with 40 apps

Andy-Why do you download apps from the market? Why don't you restore the apps using TB?

It's recommended to download at least on app from the market, that way all of your downloaded apps will show up in your downloads. You can also use market doctor but once one app is downloaded, all others will show up

Andy - Why do you use TB if you just redownload your apps from the market? Do you just use TB for non-market apps? Why not use TB for everything? Sorry for being dense.

Andy is saying he downloads 1 application from the market so that the market is able to properly recognize what apps are on the phone. He doesnt re-download them all.

System apps are RED. NEVER restore system apps. Right idea, wrong terminology ;)

Thanks for the clarification Rxpert:D

I'm sure there is a better way or a different way but this is how I've done it for a year and a half. If it's not broke, why fix it:p

Method 1 for me worked PERFECT. Not sure how I got so sideways with this in the past. Guess I just needed some hand-holding. Have Mikg3.0 finally... Anthrax kernel next.
Thanks a million guys.
