Too bad prepaid data plans don't roll over....

If they did, I'd be much more inclined to get one, since at least I knew that as long as I paid my unused data for the month would stack.

Well, I'd be looking to get some kind of rollover prepaid data plan for a tablet, thats the thing. And since nothing like that exists to the best of my knowledge?

That could be nice for the ones that don't use much data but I've never heard of this either :)

This is why some carriers just offer unlimited like boost and Virgin I think :)

Don't know any that rollover. However (if your in US) Ting is a more or less pay as you go plan. Basically you pick the allotment of data for the month and pay for that. If you go over the allotment they charge you the difference for the next allotment. If your usage falls into a lower allotment then they refund you the difference.

I know AT&T have or used to have the rollover minutes for talk but not for Data. What I found out about the rollover minutes is they have a patent or copyright or something like that for the rollover minutes. Which I find kinda odd that they can get sole rights to using it. Other carriers can not offer rollover minutes.

Just a thought!

Well before you start looking you need a tablet that would support a data connection like 3G. Kinda like how the iPad has 3G and WiFi models.

Not necessarily, he could get a hotspot device from a service provider and connect via Wifi to that.

Speaking of which the OP might want to look at FreedomPOP or Karma. Both offer free wireless data connections up to at least 500MB per month, with low rates if you go over and ways to earn more free data.
