Help Too many failed pattern attempts...

Well my aunt decided to try and break in my iconia tab a500 by entering my pattern like a billion times, so now im stuck. It tells me to enter my google username and password so i did, said it was wrong, so then i change my password and tried again, says its wrong. I tried restarting it, & turning it off... nothing works, idk what to do :(

MODERATOR WARNING - this process is known to scrub your tablet and make it unusable without further effort.

Read this thread, ask questions, before trying this. EarlyMon - 2011 Aug 26

Hi try this procedure
1. Complete shut down the device

2. Press and hold the 'volume down' button (located above the rotation lock). Please ensure that you press the bottom half of the silver button

3. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds then release but contiue holding 'volume down'

4. Wait for the device to vibrate then

5. Quickly push the rotation lock key up and down several times.

If the above sequence was performed correctly, a small display of text will appear on the top left hand corner of the screen.

eRecovery will begin shortly afterwards. Please allow the procedure to install. You tablet will restart once completed and prompt you with the initial startup dialog.

Try to use a paper clip in the bottom corner under the usb port.
That is the reset if that doesn't work then you may need to boot into recovery.
You may need a usb keyboard for this.
I will post instructions for that if needed.

Ok here is what you need to do...Download the latest Acer stock ROM to your PC (many stock Roms found on this page).
http://www.multiupload.com/WCT2FYLMQC link to stock ROM for the US. If your in another country let me know and you will need a different ROM.
Transfer it to your external SD card and make sure to rename it "update.zip". And dont unzip it. Boot holding down volume and power until you see lines of text, then let it do it's thing.

Wow
I never thought of that. Its to easy. But then again they might still like one another.

True, but she needs to understand that she destroyed a $400 piece of equipment, that he paid for. She caused the problem. Hopefully, she can understand, and realize that it's not cool to try to break into other peoples things.

Thanks,

Will

I can use the US Link you sent?? It was bought in the USA and shipped to Canada.

Thanks. Will get a micro SD card tomorrow, and try the above.

Will this update still work if I download it to my Mac?? (Sorry for asking, not too computer literate.)

I put the card in, held the volume to the right, and held the power. Now all is says is Android, and that is flashing right to left??

Do I need to delete with the first step again??

Problem could be that the kid at Walmart sole me a micro SDHC card. Do not think it is compatible...

How do I boot into recovery mode?? I put the card in, held volume, powered up to the android emblem, then it says it will shut down, but is not??

After the tablet vibrates keep hold of the bottoms till you see 3 or 4 lines of text in the left hand corner then you let go of the bottons. If you don't get this menu then you lost your Acer recovery program. There may be a keyboard way to get the tablet restored. I will have to look it up.

I saw those lines, then went to the robot with the triangle, nothing else???

UPDATE - Just called Acer, and we did the first step again, now has 2 pulleys with a belt and the word Android system up in the top left corner, never had this before. She said if that did not work, to call back.

Will keep you posted.
