Well don't be!!!
I finally bit the bullet yesterday and wished I'd done it a year ago. Up until now I've had a constant battle with the low memory warning, deleting this, installing that, moving to SD (pathetic) but no more. I currently have 61 apps installed and loads of memory still available for more.
All the information you need to partition your SD card correctly, root your Desire and install a ROM that supports apps to SD is on this forum in a friendly and usable way. Start with Lekky's Root/FAQ Guide at the top of the page and don't panic - it's much easier than you think it's going to be!!!
A huge thank you to all the contributors on this forum. I feel like I've just received a brand new Desire that's 10x better than my old Desire!
