Root [TOOL/ROM] Unleash The Beast V0.1 EASIEST WAY TO ROOT & MORE

The wifi tethering isn't working :( I used this on my captivate....so.....1) can it be made to work or 2) how can I delete the wifi app from the phone? I found barnacle wifi for free and it works. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the great zip file.

You can delete the app by using the file manager Root Explorer..... you'd go into the system/apps folder and delete it.

This would be amazing, I need help real bad. I need to return my phone and swap it for a new one. I nned to get this AT&T stuff back on and unroot so that I am good on Warranty. I am heartbroken, the screen has a fragmented line aboout 1 1/2" in the center of the screen about a hair in thickness and I've had 2 random shutdowns in 2 days. I really don't want to have to spend $500 to buy an new one. I can't find Odin to the process on the XDA sight. Please, I'm desperate.

I'm not sure if there is a zip file as of this moment. You'd definitely have to do that manually. You'd need an app called "Root Explorer." This app is a file manager, but it also gives you access to system files, like those you want removed above. "Root Explorer" if used the right way, can become your best friend. it has for me.

I actually opened up the updater-script and there are many useful comments. Good developer! :D

Removing Power On Sound:
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav
Removing Power Off Sound:
/system/media/audio/ui/shutdown.ogg

For the boot, I am pretty sure all you have to do is replace the bootsamsung.qmg in /system/media with the one in the zip file. Not 100% sure until I look at the room-mates phone later today.

is this usable with a Vibrant?

I don't believe it is. I don't want to tell you yes and then you go and mess your phone up. This from what i know was made specific for AT&T's Captivate...as far as removing all of AT&T's bloatware and start-up. I wouldn't recommend trying to be honest with u.

Yeah this is a possible way to.....This is actually a great way before you flash the mod. Good find.

Will flashing Odin reinstall all of the att crap, etc.?

If u reflash the stock firmware through Odin yeah it'll put it all back. There's also the stock firmware you can flash without Odin.....you can use Clockworkmod recovery by Koush. It's easier and much more convenient. At least for me it is coming from the Droid 1.

is there a list of the apps removed using this program to where i can individually delete these apps, im looking for the file names to use in sdk

So new that I don't even know how to get update.zip onto the internal SD. Came from iPhone 4 so rooting is all new to me as I was so used to all the different JB'ing processes. Just got the phone yesterday and am happy I switched. Well worth the money.

i just installed the bugless beast root/ AT&T app removals, etc for the samsung captivate... i then try to install Astro file manager, and while it appears as installed in the "manage applications" list in settings, there's no way to launch it from the applications list (it doesn't appear).

bugless beast has also removed the native samsung file browser, so now my device is without a browser altogether! any/all advice appreciated.

thanks,

So far...no problems, took 5 seconds to install it on my phone...seeing what works and what doesnt. Can't wait to overclock my phone and set the CPU!!!!

You don't know how to get it to the internal SD? You can email the zip to your email and download it to the phone....Syncing sometimes is a pain with this phone...no real sucess for me so far. But I have a card reader...so oh well.

I had my phone rooted the same day I got it, but that wasnt the UnleashTheBeast 2, so I had all AT&T apps. I just now dropped the file, root it again, AWESOMEEEEEE!!!

BTW.. last time I used command line to boot on recovery mode, now I tried hold power, volume up, & volume down at the same time, this is so easy!!

Thanks a LOT!!
