Help trackball issue

peanut

Newbie
so I am having the problem I have been reading about with the trackball always moving the curser to the left and I would still be under warranty accept that i put the hacked version of 2.1 on my phone awhile back is there any way I can get the official version so that my warranty wont be voided when they look to see what firmware I have

When you say "hacked version", do you mean the 2.1v3 leaked ROM? The versions for that are exactly the same as the official 2.1 ROM that was released in May, so you should be all set.

Otherwise, if you rooted and have an unofficial ROM, you can flash this ROM to get back to the July OTA official ROM: [ROM][10/20/2010]FlashBack21 v1 -Return to Factory Stock - UPDATED - xda-developers

I believe that you are running the "LEAK-V2" version as identified by information in this thread:

Leak-V2

Firmware version 2.1

Kernel version 2.6.29-564a4a15 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1

Cheers!

You should be all set with that - it does say release-keys, so nobody at Verizon will ever know. But if you really want the 2.1v3 leak (which turned out to be the official May 2010 2.1 release for the Eris), you can download it from here: http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/69688-htc-droid-eris-os-2-1v3-download.html

(Use the "Mirror 2" link - the others, I believe, no longer exist.)

The install instructions are here: http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/51383-upgrading-2-1-tutorial.html

But, honestly, I think that this is too much bother and you will be all set without installing this, IMHO.
