Yes I agree here 100%, and it is going to be interesting to see what others, especially if they are borderline comedians themselves, have to say.

THen she better have a problem with lisa lampanelli and all other people that bash the gay community. You cant have your cake and eat it too. If you find what he says offensive? Then you have to find every other comic offensive that bash the gay community. You cant pick and choose.
Maybe its because lisa is a woman and tracy is a man?Lisa Lampanelli is a supporter of the LGBT community. She donated $50,000 to Gay Men's Health Crisis in May. She can say whatever she wants about gay people. lol
... and no I'm not implying that if they make a donation, then that's a ticket for them to say whatever about the LGBT community. I know that she cares about our issues and that what she really says are truly meant to be jokes. If only I got the same impression from Tracy...
If you was a supporter of something like the gay community should you still insult it by telling tasteless jokes about the very thing you support? Its like saying you support animal rights and then go out and buy a fur coat.
You are forgetting he is a comic and does anyone take them seriously? They will even say you really take me serious? I am a comic and not to be taken seriously. I am not condoning what he said in the show about killing his son if he turned gay. I think it was overboard but it was during his show and he thought it would work as he is known to be raw. He had time to reflect and saw hey maybe that wasnt the best idea.Whether or not it's insulting is up to the LGBT community. I would personally not do that nor would I encourage it as that's not the kind of person I am. I've heard so many gay jokes from comedians, friends, and so forth that I've found a bit tasteless but none have I heard about someone threatening violence. Threatening violence is not funny at all whether it's towards gays, blacks, jews, etc.
Perhaps it would be easier understood if one was in the shoes of an LGBT person. I've heard plenty of threats towards me and what Tracy said is no different. His comment referring to that homosexuality is "learned" is completely incorrect as well. There's absolutely no evidence that supports that homosexuality is "nurtured" into a person.
I still like Tracy for his character on 30 Rock. I don't think I'll be able to see him the same way again but still... his character is funny. I'd never go to one of his stand ups (wasn't planning to before) but I'd still watch 30 Rock because I love the cast and it's a great show.
boo freakin' hoo. yours is not the first group to ever be persecuted or ostracized.
You say it takes a lot to offend you but evidently you are offended as you are talking about it. You dont like it so it offends you. Its his stand up act and not yours so who are you to tell him what he can and can not say or to change? You are right there infringing on his 1st amendment rights. By telling him to change how he says things. It wasnt a rant it was a routine for his show that got out of hand. Its funny how if the gay community goes all the way with this. It will spawn so many jokes from other comics and even lisa will crack them as well proud supporter of the gay community.Believe me, it takes a LOT to offend me. I've grown up hearing the views that Tracy expressed and much, much worse. I live just two hours away from the Phelps clan, for pete's sake. I draw the line at violence. Tracy still would have had a decent joke if he left it something like "If my son ever comes to me to tell me that he's gay, he better talk to me like a man and not [mimick's high pitched voice]. That would've been a joke, and would have gotten laughter. The rest of the things he said are his views, and he's entitled to them no matter how bogus they are. But from what I can tell this was a RANT at this point and he was no longer making jokes.
It almost sounds to me that he's been carrying these feelings a long time and it just took the right atmosphere for him to "snap."
It was wrong then as it is still today.

Prove it was a rant.
Here is a firsthand account of what happened during the show: https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=108369875920604
Tina Fey has spoken out on her take on the outburst. Notice the word "rant" appears several times in this article: Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin Weigh in on Tracy Morgan's Homophobic Outburst - E! Online
Wow 10 to 15 people walked out but what a few hundred stayed? 10 to 15 people isnt a lot of people. The face book link is useless as its a guy talking about how he personally felt. I am sure you would find many who found his act good. I would like to see a video of his act.Violence offends me. Don't you understand that's the part I take issue with?

I guess you dont watch a lot of comedians now do you? THere are plenty of white comics that do racist jokes. What I don't understand, is that racism jokes is not allowed anymore. But homophobic ones are?
If let's say a white comic makes racist jokes, he would be punished but when someone makes a homophobe joke, a little apology and it's suddenly okay.
Like what? I only saw people who make fun of their own race. And it's not like "If my daughter married a black guy, I would stab him".
Though what they hey, it's just a joke.

I guess nobody is upset that a different comedian said they would assisinate Palin if she were elected last week.............. its probably different to say you would kill someone for being President than to say youd stab them for being gay...... the former is true comedy I suppose
comedians say whatever they think will get laughs.....and if youve never heard of one saying something extremely offensive to someone or talking about killing someone then you need to stop getting comedy from PBS....... todays comics are ALL bashing one group or another and talking about killing someone........ of course thats right before they begin the raunchy parts of their act
OK, you say both the facebook link is useless because it's a guy talking about his own account, AND using the same account to prove that not many people left? Maybe the dude only saw 10 to 15 people leave based on where he was seated? Maybe others left when he wasn't looking? Although, consider the venue. Nashville, TN. The state that I believe has ruled that you can't talk about homosexuality at all in school, and they've repealed a law that bans discrimination regarding sexual orientation in the workplace. I would've been surprised if Tracy DIDN'T get cheers.
I hadn't heard about the comedian saying they would assassinate Palin, but if I had I would've been equally offended.
I've heard PLENTY of mainstream comics that can be funny & raunchy without getting violent. It's really not that hard. And there's a BIG DIFFERENCE between making jokes at a particular person or group's expense, and BASHING. Lewis Black gets on his soapbox all the time about his personal beliefs about social situations and certain people, and I don't think I've ever heard him insinuate violence toward anyone.
