Trade Droid for Incredible?

if you want a hardware keyboard, keep droid. if not, trade.
The incredible is better in some ways, but not much better. If it has the same screen as the N1, then it is going to be a downgrade in multitouch accuracy and resolution. I personally am not going to upgrade until, at a minimum, a phone with HTC Evo specs comes to verizon. I can't see wasting an unpgrade for such a minimal improvement with the Incredible. If the camera is better, it won't be because it is 8MP. Higher resolutions actually look worse if the CCD size staays the same.

Is it really that much better? But more importantly, how long until the Incredible is no longer the best phone and there's an even better phone? I have an upgrade available to me right now, but I'm keeping it for now. At the rate these companies are spitting out phones it seems almost silly to go out and buy an Incredible right now unless you need a phone or will lose your upgrade.

I'm upgrading to something this summer; either the N1, incredible, or iPhone 4G, whichever is better. Most likely I will be getting the incredible and just disabling sense UI. I am used to spending $400 or more every year on a new phone and I bought the Droid knowing I would upgrade as soon as a good phone without a keyboard was on Verizon.

If this is your plan, then plan to never get a new phone.
Ok, maybe not never but its not going to slow down any time soon. This is just the nature of the beast when it comes to tech. And the more tech they can jam in a phone, the faster they are going to start coming out.
At some point you just have to take the step off the cliff and be happy with what you have until its upgrade time again and you take the step again.

Certainly tech always advances fast, especially when it comes to phones. But what we're seeing now with smartphones is especially uncommon. I mean think about it, the Droid, N1, Incredible, new iPhone, etc. all within a few months of each other. I'm not saying to not upgrade simply because tech advances fast. BUT, I'd wait until the phone that comes out AFTER the new iPhone. You know there's going to be a phone to come out and outdo the iPhone later this summer.

Wait until the next "iPhone Killer" is on the market. I with ya, there is logic to that but after the iPhone comes out there will be another flood each touting such a title.
Then it should simmer down a lil bit

That's not an issue in this case, since he has a DROID already. He has the option of waiting until 2011, when LTE would be more wide-spread. In that way, it's prudent to hold off on the Incredible for a better phone since he owns a DROID already. This argument of "plan to never get a new phone" only applies to idiots sitting on the fence with no device or much older smartphone hoping that there's something new and awesome on the horizon.
Be that as it may, the Incredible, as incredible as it is, is still nuts and guts of the Nexus One. So, aside from a better camera and software, you still have all the intrinsic weaknesses of the N1, e.g. screen resolution (not a true 800x480), screen touch insensitivity/inaccuracy, 3G antennae issues (may be mitigated by VZW's better coverage)... they went back to soft keys, and we know how those performed on the N1, screen glass fracturing (I just responded to a post re: the Desire, which mysteriously cracked like the N1), AMOLED... don't get me started on the inability to see it in direct sunlight, color inaccuracy, etc., especially when Super AMOLED is already out on some phones.
The Incredible is great in many ways, but so is the DROID and yet both are really crappy in other ways. Point is, if you have a DROID and can wait until 2011 for a new device, do it. No sense in picking up the Incredible. It's not even the best Android smartphone out there (HTC Evo4G). So what's the point? If he chooses to wait, there's no stigma attached to this decision, unlike if he were sitting on the fence with a RAZR or G1 in hand wanting to wait. In the latter situation, jump on a new phone now.
And as for the wife's upgrade... wait until the iPhone for VZW comes out. That's what I'm doing. That way you can have an Apple and an Android in the household. No sense in taking sides, just cover all the bases. One of each! Knowing my wife, she'd enjoy the easy nature of the iPhone over an Android device.

As much as I think this is the best advice yet,
Wifey refuses to own a phone without a physical keyboard, and she has the bug for a new phone RIGHT NOW. So I either give her my DROID, and I get a new phone, or she just gets her own DROID regardless.

Well, if she wants the DROID anyway, then it's a no brainer. Pick up the phone of your liking, beit the Incredible or otherwise.

I would get the Incredible, or wait 'til summer and see if the iPhone comes out for Verizon. I like my Droid, but I'm really tired of the keyboard. I never use it, and it always opens in my pocket; it types well when I do use it, but I find it's much faster just to use the on-screen one. The only reason I would wait to see if the iPhone comes out, since Apple is eviler and getting more so everyday, is that I really want a global phone, since I leave the country occasionally. Literally every person I saw in Europe was using an iPhone.

I think some of you are going to be disappointed when the next iPhone comes out. Apple is arrogant enough to think they don't have to do anything extraordinary to keep selling then like they have been.
I don't subscribe to this line of thinking and think they absolutely have to come out with something game changing if they want to keep up with the awesome android devices we are seeing.
