Help Transferring Apps to SGS2 ???

ukplay

Newbie
Hi all,

A newbie of sorts who would like some help with the above please. My SGS2 should have arrived already but hasn't (grrr....ChitterChatter delivery times) and i am wondering how to tfr my apps from my fantastic-but-going-to-be-a-spare Desire to the new SGS2? I have moved everything i could onto the SD card, but what is the procedure in moving stuff from there (or the Desire's internal memory) onto the SGS2?
Thanks in advance for the replies......just have to wait for the damn thing to arrive...... :-)

You can re-install them from the Market too. As soon as you register your new phone (i.e., setup your Google account), it will be an available install target in the market. You can actually install to more than one phone, even paid apps. I had my whole batch of apps on both my Atrix and Captivate.

I used MyBackup - backed them up to SD then restored (once MyBackup was installed on SGS2) to the SGS2.

A couple did need to be reinstalled though from the market.

Installed all photos and data nicely too.

Thanks for the replies all - i'm not rooted, so will have to try MyBackup (is that from the market?)

(still waiting for the SGS2......)

I was in an identical situation - upgrade Desire to SGS2. I thought that all my apps would re-install via the market. Oddly, the market "forgot" a significant proportion of the apps I had installed on the Desire, so I had to go and find then reinstall them. Not a big issue, but odd.

I went from Desire to S2 and used Appmonster but it had problems "sparsing" some programs whatever that means so got the rest via Appbrain/Marketplace manually
