I see. Making a kernel is fairly straightforward. As long as you know C. It's just a boot.img and a ramdisk. You can extract the boot image make your changes and re compile it.

I was talking with chainfire a couple days ago, this may become the future of rooting. But there are many bugs and drawbacks right now. Many apps that have hardcoded paths to su won't work. But its moving along. It uses root in the data partition, so a factory reset would remove root.
 
I could live with that i never factory reset my phone while its on stock i do when iam flashing roms. May as well get use to using modified boot images now before i ever get a android 6.0 phone and want to root it atleast i will know how to do it if i try it atleast once. Thats what iam doing. Plus it gives me a chance to learn how to modify my own boot images for personal use.

They also don't check if you get insurance through the carrier. But I like to wait until the return period is almost up to make sure the hardware is free of defects and then root. I had to return my first S3 after about a week. The home button was messed up. My 2nd is now 2 and a half years old. :)

In this one guy talks about how data done right phones have different software than the regular version of the phone. And how it has a different set up as well. He said something about how he was noticing some Wal-Mart stores are switching to data done right phones and plans for virgin mobile. On Wal-Marts website this data done right galaxy s3 is on sale $200 at the moment.

The problems the one person was having in there regarding flashing a recovery makes me wonder if they changed something or locked something down on theses data done right phones. Im not sure that they went as far as locking the bootloaders on them. But it could be if recoveries dont flash properly. Ive seen it before with the optimus v when they changed the screen driver of the phone on virgin mobile which bricked anyone who flashed a recovery. If the screen driver is different in this phone then the recoveries wont work. I wish i knew what was all different in this software where they cut edges and saved alot of money just using the regular triband software as the base.

You just have to boot straight to recovery after odin passes, without booting system, twrp will disable the stock recovery reflash. Most Samsung phones are like that now. If you boot system from download mode after flashing custom recovery in odin, it will reflash stock recovery. It's install-recovery.sh. nothing special about it.
 
Yeah true but what if the bootloader is locked and screen driver is different. They had to of modified the screen driver a little bit to get it work. Would need something like what Verizon and AT&T has safe strap to flash recoveries.

Anyone who trys to enter * into the dialer will get a prompt saying no calling plan or your account has been suspended. You cant top up with *729 you have to type in the top up cards information manually in the top up section in the account app. No secret codes work on data done right galaxy s3 either does anything thats starts with a *.

Just wanted to let you know, you can manage your account online, on virgin mobile's web site.
(And no the bootloader is not locked).

You cant manage data done right phones online its a whole different account set up. You have to manage it through the account app or call data done right customer service. And secureboot: enable means you cant flash any modified or custom software on the phone meaning the bootloader is locked.

It's not locked, its knoxed, lol. It will trip the Knox counter, but not locked.
I just mentioned the virgin site because one of my co-workers was just topping up a data done right plan on the site.
