I WISH i could speak to one of you directly via skype. im soooooo confused. ive done the root chekcer, and my Triumph is rooted. clock work mod isn't working. i want cm7 on my phone. i've downloaded gapps, and cm7. but when i go into clock word mod, i get an exclamation point and android symbol, not the original clockwork hat symbol, and a lessened menu pops up. when i try to extract the zip from sd card, it fails. but yet my fone is rooted. so whats up?????????? jailbreaking my iTouch 3 years ago was waaaay easier than this, i Love my triumph, and i simply just want to clock my speed. LeoBear831 on skype. i hope someone reads this. i have no clue what to do now. youtube videos confused me even more, and seem outdated. yet the new ones only talk about cm9, which i don't want becuase of a ton of things not working. Can this stupid hack crap be any "simpler".......... GOING BONKERS.

Got your thread into the Motorola Triumph All Things Root sub-forum for you, sugarbear, where many users of that device rooted will be able to assist you.

Thank You Frisco. I hope someone replies really quick. I've been at it for hours trying to figure this mess out.

Can you explain a bit more of what you mean? Are you sure you installed CWM? Just obtaining root doesn't install a custom recovery.

I checked to see if my phone is rooted by using the root checker. and my MT is rooted. I've backed up my phone. i downloaded CWM, put it on my sd card. but when i go to boot into CWM, it doesn't work. i just simply want to go from 2.2.2 to gingerbread/CM7 just to be able to clock the speed of my processor. and better gaming. but I am confused and lost. my MT is already Rooted, now what do i do, how do i get CM7 on my MT???????

ok, so now i do have CWM, and I've installed CM7, but i cannot install Gapps, it keeps aborting while in CWM. what do i do now? lol. Ive been at it all day.

5 minute procedure my ass. it took me two days of trying to get cm7 on my MT. only for it to quit receiving phone calls on me after a month and a half. i didn't mess with the insides. but all of a sudden when i would swipe to answer a call, my phone would just restart. strange. now with my replacement phone, i am encountering the same issues all over again. I cant install clockwork Recovery. i've gone to soooo many different links to download the recovery.img file. and my phone gets stuck just vibrating when i go to boot up holding up/down volume + power button. i wish Motorola would've just given us the stupid update to gingerbread, it was the least they could do after paying 300 buckz and 4 replacement Triumphs. ****ERZ.

Make sure you are installing the right gapps. You'll want the Gingerbread version. Which is found here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip

Since you may have installed the wrong version of gapps, perform a factory reset, wipe dalvik cache. You do all that from the CWM menu. Then reinstall CM7 and flash the gapps file listed above. I used to have this phone and I can confirm that is the correct gapps file :D

If it's just vibrating when he tried to boot into recovery, he's screwed up copying the recovery.img somehow. Possibly a corrupted download, or maybe he even just copied the .zip file, renamed instead of extracting the recovery.img... Hard to say exactly.

Main thing is he needs to read the CWM installation instructions more carefully, because it's very simple and straight forward.

Looking at Post #7 it looked like he had already installed CWM and CM7 but he can't get gapps to install correctly?

Yeah, but I think he's got more issues now on a different phone?
Hard to say for sure...

Quote edited for extraneous BS :D

guys. really, i did the extraction. and copied only the recovery.img file. i followed the instructions exactly. with my last triumph, i had the same exact issues.

point being. i've followed instructions and directions to the T previously. but my phone did not work according to gavin's videos. i had to get a replacement triumph, because after i finally had installed cm7, a month later, my triumph freaked when recieving phone calls. so its not bs. you didn't read all of my posts. now with this new replacement triumph, i am encountering all the same issues as previously stated. i cant get cwm to boot, the phone gets stuck vibrating.

your replying to gapps which was the issue feb 24th 2013. i had installed the correct one. i said, that as of last week april 1. being a month and a half after installing gingerbread with working gapps, my phone began to freak when i would answer a call. so VM shipped me a replacement, and i am encountering all of the same problems, i cant boot inCWM Recovery so i can install the zipz of Cm7 and gapps. my Triumph just gets stuck virbrating when i press up/down vol +pwr.

Sugarbear, don't worry... I read your posts.

First, there is virtually nothing that can't be fixed, short of some hardware breaking, so relax!

You must understand that your post sounded more like a rant than a help request.

Anyway...
If your phone just vibrates when attempting to boot into CWM, that means that it can't find the recovery. Why this is occurring is up for grabs.

I am assuming you were able to get into download mode, and renamed the original recovery.img as a backup, and you seem to understand the extraction from zip, and copying the new recovery.img file into the image directory, on the mobile drive... Yes?

Go back and closely examine the recovery.img file you copied. It must be named correctly. Make damn sure! Most commonly, people seem to somehow get a space in the file name. Don't mess with anything else in that directory.

Check it out, and report back.

Also, CWM is phone specific, so be sure you got one built for the Triumph. I would suggest v5.5.0.4 or better.

When clockwork mod recovery aborts during a flash, it is usually because of a bad download, corrupted file, whatever. Re-download, confirm MD5 to verify file integrity, and try again.

Lastly, if something doesn't seem to act right, don't return your phone! We'll help you get it right.

I'll be watching for your next post to this thread.
