Trolls

I often see reference to "trolls" in the forums, but I really don't know what they are...From what I gather, a troll is a person who posts malicious/false comments on the forum, right? But what I don't get is, what's the point? What does someone get out of posting nonsense in a forum? Thanks in advance.
 
Trolls lead sad, insignificant lives and need to feel better about themselves and their situation by prowling the internet annoying and misleading whomever they can. Best to ignore them like naughty children as they have short attention spans. :)
 
Trolls also like to incite forum arguments that can degenerate into "flame wars" (when users just go back and forth insulting each other). Mostly to see if they can upset someone into start some meaningless argument.

report.gif
button to report anyone you think is being a troll. The only people who see your report are the Moderators (those with red tags) and they can make the judgement to deal with the potential troll. The user you report will never know you reported them, so you have no need to worry about reprisals.
 
I agree with Jero. Just hit the report button, trying to engage in a conversation with these types of people can just lead to trouble. Also, sometimes people are misinterpreted as a "troll" but they actually do have legitimate reasons for their posts. So let a mod decide if you are unsure of the person's motive.
 
What often happens is a member will get drawn into a slap fight with another member over the word "troll." To Staff, both parties appear to be trolling one another after that point, so both will see warnings, infractions or banning at some point if it repeats.

I don't like all this filthy rubbish mad talk of "Trolls = Scum of the Universe"

Trolls are great and friendly creatures once you get to know them...

Apart from all the eye stabbing, death threats, gun fire and black mailing they can be great people!!

Just take a looky at this wonderful HARMLESS completely harmless... yes.... just harmless creature... just beautiful I say!!!

Wonderful things actually... they feed off of lies and harass people for "fun"... and eat the occasional rotting turd.

Hell this brings back memories now you know... I remember the 1st time I saw a little baby twoll the little troll tried to kick me in the balls...

Android Forums only allows one troll per the entire forum, and Frisco has held that position for quite some time now :p:D lol
