Root Trouble with BACKside ROM and Theme

msdiddyj

Lurker
okay, i'm having a serious problem now. i was in the middle of sending an mms when my phone just reboots on me. now, this has happened before the root, so i didn't think it was that big of a deal. BUT, it is stuck on the BACKside IHO boot screen, and has been for like 15 minutes now.

these are the settings i changed:

  • cpu min to 480, max to 787 (maybe this was too high?)
  • enable share menu on screen shot
  • installed theme using ADW launcher
  • changed clock color
  • turned off screen animations
yeah, i don't know what to do. i had this same issue when i tried to install sadielynn's "think pink" theme: the boo tscreen never went away. (maybe i did it wrong??) anyway, to solve that issue i booted into recovery mode, wiped all the data again and then reflashed the ROM. do i really have to do this again? if i reflash the ROM, can i do it without doing a factory rest and wiping the cache, etc?

PLEASE HELP :(

Did you set the cpu clock to boot? Did you flash a theme? Does the theme date match the roms date? You will need a fresh install in order to wipe the settings.

no, no, and i have no idea LOL. i didn't touch that cpu setting because i wasn't sure what it meant. and i didn't flash a theme this time. i installed one from android market. how would i find out if the theme date matches the rom date? and what do you mean by fresh install? do i need to do another factory reset along with the cache and formatting and stuff?

UPDATE: still no phone, i guess i'll pull the battery. ugghhh, i'm going to try not to touch anything until someone responds, but i'm very tempted to try and figure out how to fix this.... i need my phone :'(

okay so i looked in another thread and i was able to fix my issue: i wiped the cache, dalvike cache, formatted system, boot, cache, and data, and my phone booted up as normal, and my themes, contacts, etc were still in tact. sooooo if i overclock my cpu again, i should make sure i set on boot right? and i know this is probably a question for another thread, but when i flash a theme, would i follow the same process? thanks.

and for some reason, when i try to open or send an mms, it freezes up on me. is there anything i can alter in the performance settings to fix this?

No if you set it to boot and its too high it will loop. Also dont use an app use the built in settings.
Make sure the theme is for the build you have like build 1-20-2012 has to have theme 1-20-2012. Flash through the recovery using the install zip from sd option. Some recommend wiping cache and dalvik.
