Root Trouble with new sd card

EvoJake

Newbie
I purchased a new 32gig sd card, because my old stock card was filling up with nandroids and all the new stuff that comes along with rooting. So I made a nandroid, ran Titanium, copied card to cpu, installed new card, partitioned, copied files from cpu to new card, rebooted, and ran Titanium to reinstall apps.

Now gallery will cause my phone to freeze at random times and when I reboot the status bar will change on its own. It will put the phone in silence mode or vibration mode, even though those were off before the reboot.

I have already tried wiping cache and dalvik without any positive effect. I know I can reflash the rom and start over, but I was curious if you guys had any more tips I could try before starting from scratch. Oh,and if it helps, I'm running Radiance 6.1 rom.

Could it be that my phone hates Titanium Backup? I have never had a successful restore that included app data. Will the nandroid I made before the sd card switch restore properly?

TIA

First we need to determine if your card is the problem or if it's something else

Haven't heard back from ya so I want to through a few things out there.

You really don't need anymore than at the very most 3 nandroids. They take up to much space for one and two as your programs get updated these nandroids become outdated. Do however keep a good ROM on your phone at all times. Having a Good ROM can be much more benificial than having a nandroid.

When swapping over to a larger SDCARD its always a good Idea to make sure you prepare the new card on the phone. I always format card from the ROM:
Settings>Storage>Erase SD card after the operation has finished then I go into recovery and partition the SDCARD. After partitioning the card then back in the rom I copy things over to the card via usb.

Titanium Backup which version are you using free or paid? I have only had one issue with tb and that was more my fault than the apps fault. Explain to us in more details the problems you are having.

Also you may want to go and try to fix permissions that may help as well.

Sorry. Long day at work. I formatted and partitioned the new card in the phone. I am using the free version of TB, mainly because I don't see point of paying $6 for an app that I can't get to work correctly. I also fixed permissions in amon ra. I may just reflash the rom and start over. It is still fully functional, but I know that something isn't right. I don't think the actual sd card has anything wrong with it, it's most likely something I did incorrectly when transferring the info over to the new card.

was your old card partitioned? if so that could be the issue. also it is always best to partition and flash a rom rather then try it on an existing rom. what rom are you on? and paying the pro key for TB is so worth the money. what issues are you having with it?

Ok, so I read through the TB guide that you posted (thanks!). And I realized it was most likely user error. But, I was in the mood to try a different rom anyway, so I flashed Tommy's newest classic this morning. I followed the TB guide and got things back up and running without any problems. Looking back I think I may have under-prepared for the sd card change.

Anyways, all is good now. Thanks again for the help!:)
