Help Trouble with SD card

Melody K

Lurker
My phone isn't currently activated and I took out my SD card. I put it back in the phone and now it's not being read by my android. I don't know what's wrong and now I can't access any of my saved pictures, music, and apps.

I've had this happen when I removed my sdcard without unmounting it correctly in storage menu. Fixed it by doing the following:

Put sdcard in my laptop and copied contents to PC
Formatted it on PC
Put it in phone and formatted it
and then connected phone via USB and copied everything back

Maybe give this a try and see if it helps.

Did you try rebooting? I also had luck booting without the uSD and then once fully booted installing the card.

Before you remove the SD card, you have to unmount it first. Always do the following before removing the SD card:

Settings > Storage > Unmount SD card

Wait for the message at the top of the screen that tells you it is now safe to remove the SD card.

Also, be sure to read the user manual that came with the phone. There is tons of invaluable information and HowTo's provided for you that will enhance your experience with the V.

You also have to remember to click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" and select the uSD card before removing it from a PC. After a couple of times forgetting to do this my uSD card started not reading certain files. Had to move everything off the card and reformat, then put it all back on. Big pain in the rear.
