Undocument immigrant sentenced in killing of La Marque woman
An undocumented immigrant from Houston found guilty of murdering a Galveston County woman will spend 40 years in a Texas prison before being deported.Carlos Balcazar last week was convicted of murder in the 122nd District Court, according to information from the La Marque Police Department.
Balcazar was arrested following the Jan. 31, 2023 discovery of Maria Rios. At 5 p.m. officers were called to the 1300 block of Green Jay Lane, where Rios’ body was found in a newly-constructed vacant residence.
Rios, who police said at the time had likely been the victim of assault, had been contracted as a cleaner for a house in the neighborhood.
Evidence found in a dumpster in the 3000 block of Golfcrest Boulevard in Houston led to Balcazar’s arrest.
Police said the homicide was not a random act of violence, but did not say how the two were acquainted.

The funeral for murdered 12-year-old Houston girl Jocelyn Nungaray is set to be held Thursday afternoon just hours ahead of the CNN Presidential Debate, where immigration and America’s border security is expected to be a key issue.
Nungaray, who allegedly was strangled to death last week by two illegal immigrants, will be remembered in a celebration of life at 2 p.m. ET before being laid to rest at a cemetery in north Houston.
Both men from Venezuela entered the U.S. illegally near El Paso, Texas, before being captured by the Border Patrol and released from custody.

Before Trump's massive rally in Coachella, California, authorities arrested another presumed assailant.
Apparently, from what I am reading, he is a pro-Trump vigilante who vowed to protect Pres. Trump at all costs. I seriously question his decision to carry a firearm into a Trump Rally, though.
