Trying to delete preset apps

Egats

Lurker
Hello! I am new here, and I am a phone nub. I have an LG Optimus F6. The bloatware it comes with is absolutely ridonkulous, and I've been looking to get rid of it. I've tried rooting my phone with several different programs (about 5 or 6 so far) and nothing has worked.

One said my phone had no root. So I tried installing a root but that didn't work. Another was supposed to give me instructions after pressing enter in the CMD, but it just closed the window instead. I have debugging and unknown sources enabled.

So yeh, any help would really be appreciated!

Thanks for replying! I actually tried this but it did not work. When I pressed enter the CMD just closed on me. No instructions or anything, just closed the window and then nothing happened. :(

Umm sounds like you're following the wrong guide in that link. There's a guide for firmware 10i and a guide for firmware 12b.

Lets start from the beginning... What firmware is your phone on?

To check, go to settings then "about phone" then "software information" then tell me what it says under "software version".

Okay, I downloaded the very first thing in the guide, but it says I can't open the file. So, really dumb question. Am I supposed to open the .kdz file on my computer or on my phone?

Place it on the computer, no opening is needed. Just choose the path where the kdz is located

Okay, more nub questions. Do I put the file on to my phone? And if so, how? I've connected my phone to the computer via USB aaand nothing shows up. The computer doesn't even think anything is plugged in.

*I can build computers but I cannot work smart phones. How's that for logic? :D

You need to install the LGMobile Support Tool to get the drivers, when you connect your phone up set the mode as "LGTool" or such and just let it install/update then restart your computer and power off your phone. Download the KDZ tool https://app.box.com/s/78mnd1hg7hnvi6wqjpt3
extract it and run it as admin, and then turn your phone on BUT HOLD DOWN THE VOL DOWN button as you plug in the usb cable into the phone and you should see "Download Mode do not unplug" then link the KDZ application to the .kdz file you downloaded and set the Type as SmartPhone or such and then run the KDZ tool and when it finishes it will reboot the phone and you will be on the I firmware version.
