im currently runnin cm7.1.1 with the 2.11.605.3 radio...
ive been having issues with my gps locking on me, it usually shows me about 2-4 miles away from my exact location.

so i tried flashing a sense rom,the ota rooted rom. to go on sense and get a gps lock then restore my cm7. but now im stuck in the splash screen, ive let it sit for about 10minutes seeing if itd get unstuck. but still stuck. any advice?
i did a backup of my cm7.1.1, wiped then flashed the ota rooted rom.

thanks guys

Pull the battery and try rebooting again. If that doesn't work, go back into recovery (battery pull>hboot>recovery) and restore your backup.

Do you have WiFi toggled off while you're trying to get a GPS lock? For some reason it really improves the accuracy with WiFi on. May want to give that a try

tried doing it again, didnt work...
now restoring my backup. i usually do have my wifi on when i use gps, it will get a close lock sometimes but most it shows me farther away.

Have you done the GPS Status & Toolbox GPS fix? It very simple and it works for me whenever I stop getting a lock or turn by turn

No, download GPS S&T from the market. Turn GPS on, open app, preferably outside so you get as many satellite locks as possible. Once you get numerous satellite locks hit menu>Manage A-GPS State>Reset. Get another lock (the more satellites the better) then do the same, but instead of hitting reset chose download. Exit out of the app and see if you get a faster lock.

should i have wifi on? and how do i tell if i have many satellites.
thanks for the help, sorry for all my questions

Just open the app, it'll say how many satellites you're "fixed on". AFA WiFi I keep mine on 24/7/365 so I'm not sure if it helps, certainly doesn't hurt, though

this is what it shows

Do you have your GPS toggled on? Are you outside? Or close to a window? To the right of the radar there should be the number of satellites you're locked ("fixed") onto

You must be in an awful signal area then. I don't know what else to tell you to be honest. Next time you leave where ever you are I'd try doing this GPS trick and seeing if it helps. If you still get nothing like above when you leave your current area it may be a more serious issue with the phone

just noticed the gps icon isnt showing up on the task bar... i have it toggled but isnt showing up on the task bar like it has in the past

Try opening Maps, the icon should pop up. Regardless, if you're not getting any satellite locks it's not going to be accurate

I meant your GPS signal. Your data signal has nothing to do with your issue at hand

Again, like I said, until you can show satellites in GPS Status and Toolbox there's nothing more we can do. Report back when you have a good signal and were able to do the trick I described earlier in this thread

If this helps when I run the Sense trick, I load a Sense ROM, download GPS Status from the market, and a weather widget.

Run GPS Status with network location turned off. If your weather widget will run on GPS alone ill let that get a lock as well. Then do the same with network location checked, and GPS off, then with both checked. Then run Maps the same way, and run a trial navigation.

Basically running everything that uses GPS or network location with every combo of the 2 checked and unchecked. Then flashing my nandroid after.

Make sure you're using the network location apk from 605.3. Just replace the stock apk with the 605.3 version, long press to install, and reboot.

I have worse problems. Last night I tried flashing redemption but kept gettin stuck at the lock screen then also tried flashing the rooted ota but got stuck at the splash screen. Bitch Times I'd let it sit for about 15 20 minutes. Idk why it's having issues with flashing a sense rom

Maybe a stupid question, but are you doing a factory reset, wiping data, cache, dalvik, before flashing the sense ROM?
