Root Trying to flash a new rom

im not to familiar with macs, but i believe that macs unzips the file automatically. then need to be re-zipped in order for the phone to be able to flash it.

I actually did re-zip it before I flashed it. Was there a specific place the file was supposed to be placed, or just anywhere on the phone?

not in any place particular. you just need to find and navigate to it in your recovery. i always put it on the root of the card out of old habits. but that is up to you.

ok. and my phone is still rebooting. It has been rebooting for over 15 min now. Is there anything wrong?

it can take awhile for it to reboot, especially if you wiped dalvik cache, as your phone has to rebuild it. any longer then that just pull the battery out and go to recovery.

That could be a reason. I will try it on a pc later if i can get a hold of one. I'm just waiting for my phone to reboot.

well.. if you did a full wipe, and factory data reset.. you need to figure out a way to get the zip on your phone.. and do it again.. because i dont think you will be able to boot up..

pull the battery, and power into recovery.. think thats all you can do..

Once I power into recovery, should I restore from the nandroid backup?

you can if you want or we can try and see if we can get that rom you want flashed away. we do not need to boot up for that. there is an option in amon ra that you can connect to your pc through recovery. select the usb-ms toggle. transfer the file over and when you are done press power to toggle off and flash it from there.

thats what i was gonna get to.. but if mac auto unzips it.. it wont do any good to put it on the sdcard.. unzipped..

true it does need to be re-zipped. or another option is to download it to the phone. use a file manager like es file manager then go to the download folder and move the file to the root of your card. and then you can flash it that way. no unzipping or re-zipping involved.

And when I rebooted, a lot of things got erased like my contacts and a few of my apps. Is there a way to get those back?

make all of your contacts linked to google that way they will be saved whenever you flash things. as far as your apps go i would use titanium backup to backup all of your apps. so that you just download titanium backup from the market and restore your apps with titanium backup.

go download titanium backup from the market.. and if you backed up from titanium.. they should reload..

all my contacts are google contacts.. not on phone.. so when i log into my phone.. with google.. it loads my contacts instantly..
