Well, I'm trying to hboot my Evo because it's now my Fiancee's. When I push the Volume down, and push the power button either the screen goes black, or it'll only go to the "shut down or restart" option screen. HELP.

Root Trying to hboot, only goes to shutdown options

you have to disable fastboot. settings>apps>unchceck fastboot (it might be under power rather then apps depending on what rom you are on)
