Root Trying to root, help with pc mode

I am currently trying to root my Droid X. Unfortunately when I enable USB debugging in PC mode my mac fails to recognize my phone. The little CD image that says Motorola just disappears. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Just going to repeat... IM ON A MAC. (Everyone keeps linking me to windows solutions on other forums.)

I wasn't using a MAC, but I did have this very same problem. I ended up trying just about all of them, 'Windows Media Sync' finally worked for me. For others 'Charge Only' worked, and still others 'Mass Storage' worked. Just keep trying, you should find one that works sooner or later.

When I plug my phone into my MBP I use USB mass storage and motorola appears as a drive.
