Help Turning off camera sounds???

Newbie
OK. Am I missing something here?? Is there no setting to turn off the camera shutter sound and zoom beeping sound??....And setting the phone volume to silent or vibrate is not an acceptable solution.

I think the only way to fix this might be root. At least I think that us how it was with the droid

I believe by law they cannot allow people to remove the camera sounds.

Privacy acts and peepers made that happen.

(Underskirt shots on busses and stuff)

Yet my DINC, and every other camera phone I've ever owned has a setting to at least silence the shutter....

Does the camera shutter sound turn off when you set the phone volume to silent or vibrate?

Yes. When you put the phone to silent mode you will not hear the shutter sound. Easiest way is to wipe the audio icon when unlocking the phone and it puts it immediately into silent mode.

On the original Droid all I had to do was turn down the volume all the way and that took care of the shutter sound when snapping pics. No rooting needed.

That didn't work, I still have the beep beep - shutter snap sound when turning it on silent mode by swiping the audio icon when it's screen locked.

Sorry to hear that. It definitley works for me. I will try to find something in the camera settings.

I just got on to post this question as well. Not only does it play a sound for the shutter but it makes a "doot doot" noise any time it tries to focus. Kind of annoying

This to me sounds like the solution then :D

No, putting the phone in silent mode does not silence the camera functions. I haven't found a way, either.

Just testing. Silent mode will silence the shutter sound and the zoom clicks, but it WILL NOT silence the auto focus double beep. Weird.

There are a few "Silent Camera" apps in the Market. Not sure if any will bypass the auto focus sound on the Droid X. If anyone finds one, post it here.
