Not at all, all S-OFF does is enables write access to the phones recovery partition, enabling installation of custom ROMs.
As has been pointed out, it's needed to root too.

I know this error from my AC forum ... I think we decided to look at redoing the goldcard and.removing the files, redownloading them and putting them back on. Feel free to give a look on android central if I'm no help, I'm on there more right now (more devs)
but my phone still s-on because i cant pass the step 16 that u mean "download the file"??,i dont know what to download,i so noob...

I just had a aha moment.. it was roght there too.. you need to use the SD that came with the phone and make it a. Goldcard

If the goldcard process for the Wildfire S is anything like it was for my Desire HD, it will be very temperamental. You should be able to use any card you want, but you may need to give it a couple of attempts before it works.
How to make it a couple of attempts before it works?sory about the question,i a new use phone android..hehehe

Sorry ive been very buisy making a rom
But im here to help. Okay, use the SD that came with the phone to make a gold card. then add the files i told you to add then just keep trying, ive had reports as 3 times the charm sometimes

Hey elol hacking a phone is risky and a lot of people end up destroying their phones in the process. If those provided instructions are hard to understand then its better not to attempt any hacking of the phone at all. I haven't even decided myself yet if I will do it or not since its all new to me.

This is where I run into problems
The hboot screeen says im s-off
then i get a weird screen that says:

Thats basically saying your S-off no problems. Dont wrry about it.

The long awaited ROM for our phone is here, well a stock one with MAJOR improvements at least Im still working on a port of course. Its coming along, slowly for that one. I estimate the week of Christmas as the ETA For the Port. even then that wont be bugless, but heres this for now SS ROM: (name means multiple things to me simonsstock simonsickle superstock lol i like them all):
not fully tested but here is what i added: wifi tethering, adhoc network support, zip-aligned, deodexed (for UOT theming) root, buisybox, removed the bootsound from it (who liked it anyways? Lol) and all this allowed me to get farther into understanding a port Anyways here is the link:

But it was a little bit troublesome lol
The Format didn't work with simplegoldcard.exe (could have been my crap vista)
I did standard windows Format, with the card in the sd card slot on the laptop.
I had to rebuild the simplegoldcard before it worked.
at hboot, it was stuck at "get sw version" and finally I just pressed Power and was able to continue the process. It didn't quite match the step by step through the Clean s58, but with some common sense and good luck, I got it!
Unfortunately I didn't write down exactly the steps I encountered, and I don't know if it is wort re-doing it just for documentation.
The bottom line is, s-off is activated. Thanks simonsimons34!
