Help TV out through 3.5 jack

My Galaxy S has become a useful addition to the household AV set-up; we often play movies or TV shows through the 3.5 jack and into the TV. Does the S2 have the same facility? I haven't yet made to leap to HD TV.

I know in june they are releasing the microUSB to HDMI official accessory, so i'd be surprised if it included another way to output the data.

According to wikipedia:

There are optional separate accessories for this device, which will include, a dock connector for battery charging and audio-visual output, a separate MHL cable which makes use of the device's Micro USB port for HDMI output and then a USB OTG adaptor for use with external usb devices such as USB flash drives.

The Galaxy Tab has HDMI and SD-via 3.5mm jack outputs, since its not particularly onerous to add the SD-out capability as its bolted on to a part of the design, its possible its included. Over at XDA a pre-retail unit was claimed to have had SD-out via 3.5mm jack. I'll know tomorrow one way or the other.

I'll take your word for it, but is there an app for the galaxy S 1 that has the TV out option via 3.5, that you could copy&paste over to the SII and see if the option is still there?

Its not an app in the SGSI, its in settings and baked into the TouchWiz framework I think. Well beyond my meagre powers, which largely consist of following instructions left by others about how to enable mods etc.

As it is full HD video it doesn't have the TV-Out via the 3.5 jack...I think it wouldn't be able to support the full resolution. There is an MHL adaptor coming out in June that will do the job. I am disappointed this adaptor wasn't shipped with my SGS2.

you can use allshare to stream videos to tv/laptop, I have my laptop connected to my non samsung tv and can stream hd videos that way, works pretty well, has been buffering a bit, but thats probably more to do with my router.

Have you managed to stream videos that have been copied onto the SGSII?
The only video files listed on my SGSII are the one's taken by the camera app.

Strange as on my Tab it lists other video's.

Hello.....im new to smartphones and I have a samsung galaxy s.... I have a nice hi def television but it is not internet ready.

Agreed that it's quite annoying having no TV-out on the 3.5mm jack! I don't seem to be able to find a way to make it work.

The official Samsung HDMI adapter doesn't look to be out for quite a while yet but there's one by BizLite over at Mobile Fun that should be in over the next fortnight (website says 9-14 days) http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/bizlink-m...ack-p29839.htm
Cheaper than the official one too.

I will test that in a couple of days when mine arrives...
Ok....yes they do... BUT THE SPRINT VERSIONS HAS BEEN REMOVED APPEARANTLY THRU AN UPDATE ....SUCKS HUH
but all the others carriers version has it and as far as the update doing away with it i have no clue if thats true. BUT I AM A GALAXY S OWNER WITH SPRINT AND NO THERE IS NOT A TV OUT IN THE MENU.
